Kyle Busch ended his Hall of Fame worthy career with Joe Gibbs Racing, that earned him two championships, in 2022 to sign for Richard Childress Racing after losing his long-time sponsor M&Ms. He took over the iconic No:8 team and had a flying start with three wins in the first half of 2023. But then started a dry spell that has been haunting them since.

The 2025 season so far has been the same story for Kyle Busch, with his bets finish being just a P5 finish at COTA. The car development being on the wrong direction, mistakes on the track and on the pit-stops have been the factors holding, Busch as well as his teammate Austin Dillon, back this year. 2014 Champion Kevin Harvick assessed this situation in the recent episode of his podcast.

The veteran named two drivers he found in a must win-situation, with one of them being Kyle Busch. He warned RCR that if they are not able to get back to winning ways, they might lose to veteran to some other team as he is already supposedly flirting with other teams. Busch doesn’t have many years left under his belt, and to achieve the target of ending career with 70 Cup race wins, he might be forced to make the tough call.

The other one is the No. 8 [Kyle Busch]. I think that if Kyle Busch, if that doesn’t stabilize, with everything that we’ve talked about with contracts and this and that, I think that could boil over, before it’s all said and done, if there’s not some bright spots pretty quickly.

Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.

The second driver in question was, Hendrick Motorsports Chase Elliott, who has won just one race since the start of the 2023 season. He has been more consistent than Kyle Busch and the No:8 Chevy team. But almost all of his races ended up being near misses, disappointing the massive fanbase of the No:9 HMS Chevy team.

Kyle Busch shared his thoughts on upcoming Coke 600

The Chevy driver is set to battle it out for the win in the upcoming weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He is set to make his 20th start of the 2025 season, with the hopes of securing his second ever win at the event, with the latest one coming in 2018.

From his last 19 starts, he has finished inside the top-10 in 12 races with eight finishes of them being top-5s, showcasing his impressive consistency in the track. The veteran has led over 1100 laps and it won’t be wrong to bet on him to bounce back at CMS.

Since it’s the longest race in the schedule, the race offers drivers more opportunity to make mistakes, given they can survive how demanding it is. He admitted that drivers have to work hard to withstand the elements and he seems to be ready for it.

The Coke 600 is the Coke 600; it’s the longest race of the year. It’s a demanding race. You work as hard as you can on yourself with your training and what not to be able to withstand the elements for that race.

Kyle Busch said via Speedway Media.

One factor that is going to benefit Kyle Busch on Sunday is the fact that the 600 miles race doesn’t demand a strong qualifying. If the car has enough race pace, that gives enough time to get upfront unlike the last few races where poor starting position ruined RCR’s chances.
