The 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season so far hasn’t been kind to both Kyle Busch and John Hunter Nemechek. It got worse when the duo got themselves involved in a big wreck ruining both of their races. The racers went on a public back of forth with comments made on X, with the two times champion being in the offensive with receipts.
On the final restart the RCR and LMC drivers found themselves in the battle for top-10. They duo made contact with just three laps left, causing damage to the No:8 Chevy. In response the veteran swerved right and send the No:42 Toyota driver to the outside wall. The clash cost the dup good points finishes, as they scored P20 and P21 respectively.
Unfortunately, we ended up with right-front damage after contact battling for position on the final lap. It turned out top-10 day into a 20th-place result.
Kyle Busch said post-race.
The drivers were furious over the incident and Legacy Motor Club driver John Hunter Nemechek shared his distaste on X. Resharing video from Fox Sports showing the wreck, he highlighted how the former champion made a move despite of being cleared and called him out.
Not freaking clear. Great day going, and just got wrecked. What an a**.

Kyle Busch didn’t sit back as well, as he took it X sharing SMT data to defend himself. He detailed how JHN made a mistake with his moves on the track and how decision making is important during duels. Both drivers had their reasons for the moves that ruined their day.
How do u know where they are when their in your blind spot smart guy? Every situation the guy behind is on my RR. How can I see that? I thought it was always the guy behind at fault for running into you? 🤷🏻♂️ they have 2 pedals and a steering wheel too https://t.co/9RBmBup673

I did not start this. The 42 apparently doesn’t know where the RS (right side) of his car is and where he is in relation to the outside wall. There was 2 ft outside him and I was judging my left side tires to the hash marks. Always know who your racing beside

Kyle Busch is desperately looking for the next big win
The race on Sunday marked another race the No:8 team went winless. They have been experiencing a drought for the last three years and are desperate to end his 100+ race winless streak. In the words of Busch’s teammate Austin Dillon, the next win would the biggest of the Richard Childress Racing drivers’ career.

I talked to Kyle, and his next win is going to be the biggest of his career, if you think of it the right way. All the stuff that has been said and brought up over this year, I feel like if he puts his head down and takes that team back to victory lane, that’s going to be the biggest win of his career.
Kyle Busch said.
The comments from the veteran are on point about the No:8 drivers. They need to get the on-track execution on point and should also inspire the veteran to make better decision on track instead of being impulsive. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the duo in the coming races of the 2026 season.
