The Nashville cup race win will surely be one of the happiest memory for the current Championship leader Chase Elliott as he was able massive improve his 2022 outing at the superspeedway compared to the P39 finish he had at the 2021 Ally 400. Ingenious pit strategy and a strong second-half drive were instrumental in the No:9 Chevy Camaro ZL1’s journey to the victory lane ahead of the dominating Toyota pack.

The 2020 cup champions’ run to the podium was more than just easy and it is safe to say that a bit of luck really come around for the No:9 team as they were able to make good use of the more than two-hour halt that came to the race following the rain-drenched day. The Joe Gibbs Racing trio of Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Martin Truex Jr. along with the 23X1 pair of Bubba Wallace and P2 finisher Kurt Busch was among the dominating drivers on the track.

The Toyota domination was only broken by Elliott’s chevy and when the final caution came out with 9 laps to go JGR team made a bad pit stop call which saw them enter the track with more than 9 cars between them and the leader Elliott who decided to stay out. Elliott was able to convert that position in to win in the last four laps showdown as Kurt Busch who was running second failed to catch up with him. Now Chase Elliott has come forth expressing his excitement about how special is his win following last year’s disappointment.

Chase Elliott acknowledged that the biggest thing about his win was he struggled so much last time at the track so he point out that he is happy about the fact the team was able to make such a second-half comeback at the track after such last season’s run. He went on to say that he thinks he is the proudest of that piece of the puzzle which enabled the team to reset, reevaluate and get them back to the right track in the race.

I think the biggest thing was we just struggled here last year, so to have a struggling race here a year ago and then to be able to come back and be as competitive as we were in the second half of the race, I am the proudest that piece of the puzzle, I think. Just to kind of reset and be able to evaluate and get back going in the right direction here,” Chase Elliott said.

Talking about the track and the race market, somewhere his father Bill Elliott is very much respected and appreciated, Chase Elliott acknowledged that he is glad about a win here though he wishes to do it on the fairgrounds. He pointed out that the place and the people around the race are great, as they embrace the racing very much.

Yeah, look, I wish we were at the fairgrounds, for example, but I’m glad we’re at least in the market. This is a cool town. It’s a great place to be. It’s a great place to race. It’s a town that I think embraces us, and we embrace the people that are here, and they stuck it out,” says Chase Elliott.

He pointed out that the crowd was still pretty good to the night until 11.00 following the rain delay as they waited for six or seven hours to see the race end. Chase Elliott extended his appreciation for the crowd that stayed at the track and suggested that its special for him to get a win so close to home though it was hard to win as anywhere in the schedule.

Heck, the crowd was still pretty good I thought for it to be 11:00 at night or whatever, and having started this thing six or seven hours ago. Yeah, I thought we had a good crowd. Appreciate everybody sticking around, and it is close to home for me, so — it’s hard to win anywhere, but when you win kind of close to home like that, it is pretty special,” added Chase Elliott.
