23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick has come forth to express his frustration over the disappointing finishes his team has scored in the 2023 season despite having fast cars. The two times Xfinity series champion and his teammate Bubba Wallace has often found themselves finishing positions they shouldn’t be due to multiple mistakes and unfortunate incidents.

The most recent example of the team mistake costing the driver came last week at Michigan International Speedway. Reddick’s No:45 car was significantly faster and was the only driver other than race winner Chris Buescher who could have stopped Martin Truex Jr., who was dominating the whole race. But a messed up green field pit stop saw his right rear tire coming off soon after leaving the pit cost him.

While talking about the team’s performance this year, Reddick said that finishing in the top 15 while having a car much faster has been very frustrating. he added that the continued streak of disappointments is pretty hard on himself and everybody on the team, and it’s getting hard to live with it.

Well, honestly, our average finishing position and our average running position, that’s where it gets frustrating. I don’t feel like we’ve brought a 15th-place car to the racetrack once this year. We’ve been much better than that every single week, and we’ve just not capitalized on it. It’s been tough. It’s been frustrating,” Reddick told RACER.

This last weekend at Michigan was a perfect example of it. The hard part is having the speed. We have the speed, which is awesome. It’s just hard. It’s hard to live with, honestly. It’s tough. It’s hard on everybody when we just continue to not capitalize on the speed that we bring to the racetrack,” Reddick added.

The No:45 Toyota Camry driver has said that he needs a smooth race that they can have. He has this as his goal for the coming three races of the regular season, the Indianapolis and Watkins Glen Road Course races, alongside the regular season finale at Daytona. He defines a smooth race as finishing where they are supposed to be.

That’s really hard to do, honestly. I think that’s what we’re capable of, and we’ve just got to have some smooth races here. We’ve got three weekends now to go in the right direction. We’ve just got to plug away, and we’ve got to have some smooth races and finish where our car is capable of finishing,” Reddick said.
