The Bristol playoff race saw history in making. Chris Buescher became the 19th different winner of the season, a joint top cup series record. The win also marked the third successive win for a non-championship chasing driver in 2022. The previous two playoff rounds were won by Bubba Wallace and Erik Jones.
The playoff guard had yet another disappointing run in the last race of the Round of 16. Four drivers failed to hit the mark on the last three weekends. Their lack of luck also played a big part in their exit as all four of them couldn’t get the required finish in Bristol to advance to the round of 12.
The RCR duo of Tyler Reddick and Austin Dillon was collected in a crash prompted by Daniel Suarez. They were accompanied by the veteran duo of Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick on the eliminated list. Now Tyler Reddick and Austin Dillon have come forth to express their thoughts on the exit.

Austin Dillon acknowledged that it’s unfortunate that they failed to progress. He added that they put themselves in a dilemma with their poor run in the first two rounds. He went on to add that the day was positive until the crash as they had a fast Camaro. He pointed out that he can use this positive racing they got in the upcoming seasons.
“It’s unfortunate, but we put ourselves in a little bit of a bind, points-wise, in the first two races. We were doing our job today, though. We had a great race car and got stage points. It’s just unfortunate we were caught up in it. Our goal for the rest of the year is to just go and try to win races and get better. I think today was positive overall. We can use that going into next year,” says Austin Dillon.

Tyler Reddick though had an amazing season has always been the unlucky one throughout 2022. The frustrating runs continued for him at Bristol as well. He pointed out that the balance issue his car was facing restricted him from advancing forward in the race.
“Tonight was frustrating for sure. We thought qualifying was better for us in our Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Chevy, but we didn’t quite have the pace or the balance really to make our car better, and unfortunately, the balance issues we were fighting, we were pretty much limited,” Tyler Reddick said.
Tyler Reddick went on to say that they were boxed in after the failure to address the balancing issue without it affecting the downforce. He added that he lost the car’s upper control arm for the second week in a raw after he was collected in the accident.
“We couldn’t adjust on it without hurting downforce of the car overall, so we were kind of boxed in. Then we just kind of got collected in that accident back there. I checked up in time, but yeah, I got run over from there. Caught the right front and broke the upper control arm for the second week in a row,“ Tyler Reddick added.
