It is safe to say that the Big 3 of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden is surely one of the best trios ever seen in the NBA for almost a century. With all marquee players inching out against Milwaukee Bucks in the previous playoffs, the Brooklyn Nets are doing everything to lock up their Big 3 to which Kyrie Irving’s cryptic message might have taken some NBA fanatics by surprise.
Ahead of the start of the 2021-22 season, many other teams have started gathering a star-studded roster. To which the Nets countered by locking Kevin Durant via a four-year contract extension worth $198 Million. After which the contract extension with James Harden was reported to be under discussion. Irving too has indicated to sign an extension with the current team.
Kyrie Irving Indicates to stay at Brooklyn Nets in 2021-22 Season
Kyrie Irving said, “There is more to this journey.” What that means is up in the air, but certainly, he doesn’t want to play elsewhere, at least not right now.
Looking back at the NBA journey of Irving, he started off in emphatic style with registering history with the Cleveland Cavaliers. After which he joined the Boston Celtics, which later turned out to be a roller coaster ride. And now, Irving is with the Nets, being paired alongside Kevin Durant and James Harden.
Although the Nets failed to fire against the Milwaukee Bucks after their stars were injured. Yet it doesn’t rule away the fact, that this team is one of the favorites to win the Championship in the coming season. Naturally, any player getting the combination of Kevin Durant and James Harden, would be lucky, and especially when you are Kyrie Irving, who can improve upon his own scoring prowess alongside these players.
Having said that, If the Brooklyn Nets are able to extend the contracts of the Big 3, they will be in some tricky cap situations for the next few years. Safe to say, having a three-man core of Durant, Irving and Harden is worth it by all means.
