It was 2016 when the Cleveland Cavaliers took the NBA Championship by defeating Golden State Warriors in the finals. They shocked the NBA world by defeating Stephen Curry and his team, proving the fact that they don’t fear their new style of playing basketball.

It was a stunning series to witness, as the Warriors who were coming off a 73-win regular season, were leading a 3-1 against Cavaliers and only one more win away from championship.

On the other hand, Cavaliers were not willing to give up at any cost. They claimed their very first championship title in the franchise history when everything seemed to be falling on the other side.

The Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the defending NBA champion and Western Conference champions the Golden State Warriors, four games to three in a rematch of the previous year’s finals. It was recorded to be the 14th rematch following all of the previous NBA finals in history.

Iman Shumpert talking about the Golden State Warriors game back in the 2016-17 season, revealed what it meant to the Cleveland Cavaliers and to the future of the league. He said, “It was two different styles. We kind of knew that whoever wins the most of this little war we got going, whoever wins the most chips, basketball is heading to that style.”

“We knew it meant more because we knew the kids are either going to continue to want to go to the post and want to shoot fadeaways, or they are going to think this s#*t is okay, this shooting that s#*t from half-court s#*t,” he added.

He also talked about Stephen Curry, and how he used to touch Curry when he attempted for threes. He initially didn’t mind Curry attempting for the threes but after he started making them it became a problem for him. Talking further on the same he said, “Once this little dude started making it, Tyronn Lue was looking at the drawing board like, ‘Y’all going to get out there? What are we going to do? You shocked he made it now?’ It got to that point.”

“When I think about it now, I’m just like, they keep saying basketball changed as they ruined it. But I’m like, you ruined the version that I like.”
