“I’m not in the business of blame-game” LeBron James on being asked about Frank Vogel’s job being in a jeopardy
Lakers Coach Frank Vogel and LeBron James
LeBron James, the arguable GOAT in the game has had an illustrious career throughout his time in the NBA. He has 4 NBA Championship with 3 different teams and won the Finals MVP award in each of the four final wins. His current Lakers side is finding it difficult to find a rhythm to maintain a consistent run in the regular season.
LeBron in his recent interview after the loss against Indiana Pacers during the press conference refused to point blame towards the coaching staff of the Los Angeles Lakers, after the recent losses as the Lakers fail to keep up a consistent winning run. The Lakers are currently sitting at the 8th position in the Western Conference and have 5-5 runs in their last 10 games.
Is Frank Vogel under the gun by Lakers management?
Frank Vogel’s job is being assessed on a game-to-game basis as reports emerge from The Athletic’s Bill Oram and Sam Amick who have said. “The Lakers’ decision-makers are closely monitoring whether Frank Vogel still has command of the locker room. …Vogel is being evaluated on a game-to-game basis and remains at risk of being fired.”
Los Angeles Lakers were in a commanding lead for most of the game against the Indiana Pacers, which however ended as a loss for the Lakers. Caris LeVert, shooting guard for the Indiana Pacers was on fire in the fourth for them, he was outshining the Lakers defense and dropped 22 points in the last quarter, to which the Lakers answered by scoring only 24 points.
The decision-making by the coaching staff of the Lakers or particularly the decision taken by Frank Vogel to bench Russel Westbrook didn’t go as planned by the coach in the last four minutes of the fourth quarter. A discussion that left many questioning whether Russel should have played the dying minutes of the game to come out with a win
LeBron James on Frank Vogel
The loss suffered by the Lakers against the Indiana Pacers continues to pile up the pressure on Frank Vogel. LeBron jumped to take a supportive view of the situation when he was asked about the coaching staff affecting the team, he said in the interview, “The coaching staff has been great. They’ve put us in a position to succeed and it’s on us to go out and handle the business. So, there are always things that we all can do better but, there’s no blame.”
In the last quarter, Frank Vogel decided to bring out Russel Westbrook in the last four minutes of the quarter, a decision which didn’t turn out to be in their favor, and made many people question the decision made by the Lakers coach, Frank, however, defended his decision by saying “Playing the guys that I thought were going to win the game.”

The Lakers have splashed to acquire Russel Westbrook a veteran guard who has been far beyond his peak. Russel this season for the Lakers has not been up to the mark and has been a flop so far this season. Apart from this Lakers have been without their star forward and center player Anthony Davis and have missed 14 games since picking up an MCL injury. It is a major concern as to whether the Lakers have the depth to fill in a crucial role which is covered by Anthony Davis in the Lakers team.
