Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol were a supreme duo back in the for the Los Angeles Lakers. Having played alongside one-another for several seasons, both these marquee players adapted to each other’s paying style in different situations. As the 41-years-old Spanish Professional is expected to announce his retirement today, Twitteratis remember the special message by Black Mamba towards him. 

Ever since Pau Gasol was acquired by the LA Lakers in the 2008 season from the Memphis Grizzlies, Gasol helped the former team improve by heaps in the Western Conference. He was one of the primary reasons why the Kobe Bryant led Lakers won the 2009 and 2010 NBA Championships.

However, there are some reports suggesting that Pau Gasol would be making his retirement announcement on October 5. Having said that Pau Gasol enjoyed his best days in the NBA, when he was with the Lakers driven by Kobe Bryant. However, ever since the Spaniard moved away from the iconic purple and gold team, he only went onto become an addition in other teams.

Since 2014, Pau Gasol went onto play for Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs and the Milwaukee Bucks before eventually returning to Spain. Most recently the 41-years-old played in the Olympics and in the Spanish domestic circuit for FC Barcelone.  

To those who are not aware, Pau Gasol was named an All-Star six times while being named to four All-NBA Teams in his career. He also won the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award in 2001-02. Internationally, Gasol has won 11 medals in FIBA competitions, including gold in the 2006 World Cup and silver in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

Lastly, talking about the relation of Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, the duo were more than just teammates. Known as one of the truest bonds ever witnessed in the NBA, Bryant and Gasol were publicly seeing defending and acknowledging each other’s playing style and ethics. Which even remains to this day as Twitteratis remember Kobe Bryant’s special message just when Pau Gasol bids farewell to pro basketball.
