Russell Westbrook impresses everyone with his ‘new’ role
NBA player Russell showed what he is made of as he powered the Los Angeles Lakers to their first win of the season. Russ was assigned a new role which demanded him to come in when the team needed him. He didn’t dishearten anyone and gave a power-packed performance. The guard helped the Lakers break their losing streak. He finished with 18 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists in 31 minutes he spent on the court while coming off the bench.
The ‘Big 3’ of the Lakers finally stepped up to take their team over the line. Many said that Russ was not fit to be with the Lakers, but it was just a matter of some time to figure out a potential role for him. And guess what? Maybe they have succeeded at doing it. NBA Twitter spammed social media with positive reactions to Russ’ gameplay.
According to ESPN, Russ’ new role for the team ended his streak of 1,007 straight starting appearances which is said to be the third-highest active in the league behind Chris Paul and LeBron James. It might be intended that this role can be a permanent one for him now onwards. This was the best way Westbrook could embrace to shut down his critics.
