D’Angelo Russell takes a subtle shot at Timberwolves teammate Rudy Gobert

D'Angelo Russell and Rudy Gobert

D’Angelo Russell is all over the NBA headlines as recently he fired a shot at his new teammate, Rudy Gobert. The Big Man probably isn’t loved by the Minnesota Timberwolves. As not only the fans but also his teammates aren’t really liking him there. But nothing can be changed now as the Timberwolves this offseason picked him as the guy who’ll lead the team to new heights. But D’Angelo Russell’s recent jab is adding a different segment to the story.

After the Minnesota Timberwolves loss against the shorthanded Charlotte Hornets at 110-108. D’Angelo Russell in the post-game interview had some very unique words for Rudy Gobert. D’Angelo didn’t blame or exactly call out the seven-footer but showed out his disappointment.

Honestly, Rudy Gobert can be blamed for the loss. As during the clutch time when the game was very closely contested and head to head, D’Angelo Russell threw a lob to Gobert. But the BIG MAN sold it away while trying to flex his Michael Jordan like skills. Those two points would have changed the whole game and the team today wouldn’t have been tied at a 10-10 record.

After the game, talking about the team’s fighting inconsistency D’Angelo Russell said: “Guys are grown men. You’re either focused on doing what you got to do to help the team win, or you not.” Further, addressing his chemistry with Rudy Gobert he added: “He catch the ball, he’ll score.”

D’Angelo Russell probably linked it with the mess Rudy Gobert created with only one minute and fifty-eight seconds remaining. As he tried to turn into prime Michael Jordan. Even Rudy Gobert acknowledged his screw-up and had a word about Russell as well.

While doing so Rudy Gobert quoted: “Sometimes I fumble it. Most of the time, I get it and something good happens. As long as we can keep that trust and I can try to put myself in the right spots for him to find me. Whether it’s that pocket pass or that lob, any pass actually, just trusting me. I think it’s been good for us.”

Further, aiming towards a better time and improved chemistry with D’Angelo Russell, Rudy added: “I’ve got to be able to give him even more confidence and make sure I catch all of them. I think we’re going to get to that point. If sh*t happens, sh*t happens. But for the most part, usually, good things happen.”

Can D’Angelo Russell and the Wolves turn their season around?

D’Angelo Russell and the Minnesota Timberwolves are down bad right now. As they are ranked at the 10th spot in the western conference with the record of 10-10. The players have chemistry issues and aren’t able to adjust themselves to the recent changes, especially the addition of Rudy Gobert. So far D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards have made their way to the headlines because of the seven-footer and even fans aren’t really liking him.

But let’s not forget that if the Wolves are able to get handy with this line-up and run some good size while guards and wing players do what they are expected to do. They’ll soon be in the conversation for championship contenders and dominate the league. They also have enough time for that but they’ll have to put in a lot of efforts for that to happen and know each other well. Especially, start adjusting with Rudy Gobert and developing great team chemistry around him.
