Draymond Green penalized with $25,000 fine for telling rival fan to ‘shut the f**k up’

He is a former Defensive Player of the Year and made the All-NBA Defensive team 7 times in his career. But he is also one of the most notorious players in the league and that has gotten him fined on many occasions.
On Thursday. Draymond was again fined $25k for using obscene language at a fan. The incident took place in the game when Golden State Warriors were facing the Dallas Mavericks earlier this week on Tuesday. With 11.20 remaining on the clock in the fourth quarter, Mavs guard Spencer Dinwiddie was shooting free throws against the Warriors when Green told the fan to shut up. “Enjoy the fu**ing game, shut up!” Green said. It is unclear what the fan was saying to the Warriors star.
Alluding to the incident that took place During Dallas and Warriors match, the statement released by the NBA, said, “Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been fined $25,000 for directing obscene language toward a fan.” The fine was announced on Thursday by NBA Executive Vice President Head of Basketball Operations, Joe Dumars. The Warriors lost the game at 113-116 on Nov 29th.
The Warriors forward is no stranger to such disciplinary actions and has been fined multiple times in his career for his plays, antics and actions on and off the court. Earlier, Green was fined by the Warriors organization for allegedly punching his teammate Jordan Poole during an altercation in the Warriors’ facility.
Draymond Green has paid over a million dollars in fine
Draymond Green has been fined so many times in his career that he has paid over a million dollars as fines to the league and organization. Before he punched Poole in the Warriors facility during their practice, he was only $5,876 away from reaching the mark of $1 million mark in career fines. It is unclear how much Green was fined for the altercation.
However, after NBA fined Draymond $25k on Thursday, he officially crossed the 1 million mark in the fine. In a Tweet, Dray had commented candidly that it is unfortunate that he had not already crossed the 1 million mark, because he thought he already did.
Draymond Green is one of the most important elements that holds the Warriors together and gives them a fierce outlook on the court. He has been an important and perhaps the most dominant element of their first three championships which came against the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James. He also said the 4th NBA championship was the ultimate answer to his critics who thought that he was washed. Green’s defensive prowess has given him a place amongst the greatest defensive players in the league’s history.
