“LeBron’s not a Top 10 Laker” Rob Parker asserts how LeBron James has had ‘more bad’ than good as an LA Laker
LeBron James and Rob Parker
LeBron James is considered by many, either as the basketball GOAT or 2nd to Michael Jordan in the GOAT debate. Over the 20 years of his illustrious career, there is perhaps nothing that LeBron has not achieved in the league. Winning 4 NBA championships, 4 regular seasons, and finals MVP, Ohio born has come a long way. He became the first active player to touch the billionaire status. However, for many James still has a lot to prove even after spending half his life in the league.
Los Angeles Times released the list of the top 75 Lakers of all time. Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant were at the top and the 2nd respectively. James was ranked 7th on the list of best Lakers. However, LeBron making the top 10 on the list became news for many. For many, he should have been ranked higher, but for some James does not belong to the top 10 list.
Sports analysts, Rob Parker and Chris Broussard discussed the list on their podcast “The Odd Couple”. Reacting to the news, Rob Parker said, “Let me say this, I don’t believe LeBron’s a top 10 Laker.” According to Parker, LeBron’s career in the Lakers’ uniform had more “bad than good”. Parker brought up the fact that the Lakers with LeBron James have not made the playoffs in 3 out of the 4 years of span. “They missed the playoffs three out of four years with LeBron. Shocking. LeBron has had more bad than good as a Laker. It’s been more turmoil and more losing. I think LeBron’s had more bad than good”, Rob Parker said.
Parker also brought up LeBron’s stint with the other teams and compared them with his legacy with the Lakers. “And this plays more so than his other two stops. I can sing his praises in the other two. I don’t think he’s a top ten Laker of all time…”, said Parker. Speaking of championships, Parker also took an indirect jab at LeBron’s 4th ring which is his 1st ring with the Lakers. He said, “I’m not trying to take the championship away, but if you’re a Laker fan out there, nobody thinks that was some special championship.” Interestingly LeBron considers his “Bubble” championship as his hardest; given the difficulty, players had to endure during the tough times in Orlando.
LeBron James’ injury and the Lakers’ hope in the season
LeBron James got himself injured again in the 4th quarter of the game against the Los Angles Clippers. Though James was hot in the game, he had to leave the court with what appeared to be a groin injury. If LeBron has reaggravated his previous groin injury, it would be bad news for the Lakers faithful. However, the good news for the Lakers is, after missing the last games, LeBron has been reported to have taken part in practice on Wednesday. Coach Darvin Ham confirmed that LeBron has taken part in non-contact practice.
With LeBron out for a few more games moving ahead in the season, the Lakers’ hopes this season are hanging on a thin thread. Although in the previous game between Brooklyn Nets and the Lakers, fans got a glimpse of old Anthony Davis, the injury scare is real with the ‘Brow’. The Lakers are 14th among the 15 teams in the Western Conference and have one of the worst records in the league with at 3-10. With Russel Westbrook newly found rhythm, the Lakers are hoping they can turn things around.
