The Houston Texans currently are in shambles due to the saga revolving around Deshaun Watson who is the quarterback of their team. When a team is missing a player with the quality as Deshaun Watson it is pretty certain that their record will be worse than earlier but the Houston Texans were among the worst teams last season.

They had a record of 4-13 and were terrible to watch, they did manage to get 4 victories somehow with Davis Mills as their quarterback but it didn’t look nice to see them suffer just years after being a solid team in the AFC with Deshaun Watson leading their team along with the likes of DeAndre Hopkins and JJ Watt.

However, the coach of the Houston Texans still believes in his team and compared his team to the Cincinnati Bengals as he thinks his team can make a similar jump as the Bengals who were also trash last season and went to the Super Bowl this season.

“What gives me optimism is….  good quarterback for the Houston Texans”- Houston Texans head coach Lovie Smith

Lovie Smith the head coach of the Houston Texans in an interview talked about his team and said, “We won four games this year. The Bengals won four the year before, and this was a big year for them,” Smith told Peter King in Football Morning in America. “We don’t have to wonder—we just saw a team do it. Someone’s going to make that jump. Someone always does. Why not us?”

He added, “What gives me optimism is . . . I got a chance to see Davis Mills. How many special quarterbacks are there out there? There are a few. But there are a lot of good quarterbacks. I think we will have a good quarterback for the Houston Texans,”

Lovie Smith said. “We have the third pick in the draft right now. There’s a possibility of us getting a great quarterback added to our team, or a lot of draft picks to get in more players. Something positive’s going to come out of that.”

It will be interesting to see how the Houston Texans perform this season as they again will be without Deshaun Watson who doesn’t want to play for the franchise again.
