The New York Jets are actively looking to rope in a veteran quarterback since they believe that they are ready to compete for the Super Bowl trophy with a stacked roster. And with the New Orleans Saints‘ new franchise QB Derek Carr out of the equation, the Jets must decide between the remaining QBs to sign. And as advice to the New York-based football team, one NFL analyst suggests the club to pursue the Ravens QB Lamar Jackson instead of waiting for the Packers QB Aaron Rodgers to make a decision about his future.

The Jets have been patiently waiting for the Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers to decide about his future in the league. Their patience might have cost them the former Raiders QB Derek Carr, who recently signed with the Saints. Now, they are very few starting-caliber QBs left in the league, so they have to make a move immediately.

They have to choose between Rodgers, the former 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo, and a few other QBs remaining in the market. In addition, they can also target the Baltimore Ravens star, Lamar Jackson. The Ravens are struggling to sign the former league MVP Jackson to a long-term deal and according to reports, the Baltimore-based franchise is looking to franchise tag their QB non-exclusively.

If the Ravens place Lamar Jackson under a non-exclusive tag, he would be able to talk to other teams about a potential contract and the NFL analyst Chris Broussard believes, the Jets should wait for the opportunity and go make an offer for the 2-time Pro Bowler.

During a recent episode of the Fox Sports show First Things First, Chris Broussard revealed why he believes the Jets should sign Lamar Jackson instead of the 10-time Pro Bowler Aaron Rodgers.

“They’re not winning the Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers,” said Broussard. “He hasn’t been to a Super Bowl when he was at his Apex and I got news for people, he’s not turning around the clock.”

Additionally, he went on to say that instead of giving up a lot for the Packers QB, they should give a fully guaranteed contract to the dual-threat QB Lamar Jackson and bring him to New York.

“I know you don’t think Aaron Rodgers leading them to the Super Bowl, said Broussard. “So why should I pay him $60 million to do that? I think what they should do, I wait to see what the Ravens do with Lamar Jackson, if they place him on the non-exclusive tag, go ahead and guarantee him a full contract and bring him to New York.”

Broussard does make a valid point. The Jets might have a 2-year window to win the Championship with a 39-year-old Aaron Rodgers. But if they invest in Lamar Jackson, they will have success in the long term.
