Jacksonville Jaguars’ Travon Walker made an instant impact on the big stage as he played his first game on the NFL stage against the Las Vegas Raiders in a preseason fixture. Despite the Jaguars coming up second best courtesy of a 27-11 loss, Travon Walker got his first career sack on Jarett Stidham on the second opportunity.

However, the talking point of Travon Walker’s debut match wasn’t about the sack which he was able to make on Stidham, but more so about the one he failed to make. The 21-year old linebacker rushed in on Raiders left tackle Brandon Parker and caught quarterback Jarrett Stidham as he released the ball.

The play was instantly flagged by the referee, as Walker was found guilty of roughing up the passer, a call which was criticised by many on social media. However, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson believes that all of this will help Walker gain experience during his rookie season in the NFL.

Travon Walker too wasn’t much disappointed about the missed opportunity as he looked upon the positive outcome from the game, which came courtesy of his first NFL career sack, which the youngster hopes will be the first of many for him in his career.

It was definitely an exciting feeling,” Walker said. “It was my first [sack] but, like, plenty more to come. It was definitely exciting, just to be out there on an NFL roster, out there on an NFL team playing with other NFL players. Something that I’ll always remember [will be] my first snap,” Walker said as reported by ESPN.
