Cowboys boss Jerry Jones has responded to NBA legend LeBron James‘ criticism of the media not asking him about the recently resurfaced old desegregation protest photo. An old photo from 1957 resurfaced on the internet where a young Jerry Jones could be seen in one of the protests shortly after the Little Rock Nine controversy. This was a moving moment in American history and Jones was on the side that was against the Blacks.

James had earlier questioned why the media is trying to bury this incident, whereas whenever a Black guy does something wrong, they vilify it, making headlines like never before. Jones responded to it by heaping praises for James, revealing how much he thinks of the Lakers star.

He said that he doesn’t know anyone whom he respects more than James and also called him the ambassador for sports. “First of all, you have to hear me say how much I think of LeBron,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan. “I don’t know of anybody that I respect more. I don’t know of anybody that has taken every opportunity he’s had and maximized it. Not only [has he been] a great ambassador for sport, he has taken sports, he has taken his venues, and used those platforms.”

Jones said that James has the influence and has utilized his position to enhance basketball to a new level. He added that James has made a lot of people lot of money and he hopes he has done it too.

“Certainly, he has influence, and just because of all of the above. His accomplishments, how he’s utilized his sport, and how he’s utilized his platform. How we have done it. He has enhanced basketball, he’s made a lot of people a lot of money. I hope I have too,” he added.

A few days ago, Jones had clarified why he was pictured in the protest. He said that he was just a curious teenager back then and didn’t know the monumental event that was going on. He said that we have come a long way from that and hoped that such a thing will never happen in history again.

“That was, gosh, 65 years ago, and curious kid, I didn’t know at the time the monumental event that was going on,” Jones said Thanksgiving night. “I’m sure glad that we’re a long way from that. I am. That would remind me: Just continue to do everything we can to not have those kinds of things happen.”

James himself was a huge Cowboys fan but drifted apart after the team’s stance on kneeling during the national anthem.
