Josh Allen rewrote history books as he became the first player from the Buffalo Bills to feature on the cover photo of the video game Madden NFL 2024. Allen joins a long list of quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson who have been on the cover photo in recent years.

However soon after this announcement was made, some fans dug out Allen’s old tweets which are extremely offensive and derogatory. His old tweets show him saying the N-word multiple times as well as promoting white supremacy – “Bout to show up these N**gas at pong”, and “why are you so white ? — If it ain’t white, it ain’t right!.”

One Twitter user put out a collage of such derogatory statements and questioned EA Sports’ decision. While some fans tried to defend Josh Allen by saying he was very young at that time, many criticised him as well.

Josh Allen was not the first choice for the Madden 24 cover for many fans and the quarterback knows this. Allen has even addressed this issue and said that if he’s being hated by thirty one other teams he must be doing something right.

He talked about competitiveness in today’s world and it’s a well known fact that opposition fans won’t like him. However the most important thing is to be loved by his own fanbase.

It’s an opportunity that not many people get to do. If you’re not being hated on by 31 other teams, you’re doing something wrong. As long as your fanbase loves you, that’s all that matters,” he said.

“This is the world we live in, it’s competitive. We don’t like the opposing teams, opposing fans don’t like us and vice versa. At the end of the day, it’s about respect. If there weren’t 31 teams that didn’t particularly like me that’d be worrisome.”

It’s no doubt that such tweets from Josh Allen were extremely offensive and shouldn’t have been posted but it was ten years ago and hopefully, he’s changed now.
