Ravens QB Lamar Jackson recognizes Lionel Messi’s GREATNESS after Argentina’s World Cup triumph
Lionel Messi and Lamar Jackson
Star quarterback Lamar Jackson took to social media to acknowledge Lionel Messi’s greatness after he won the football World Cup for Argentina on Sunday night. Playing in his second World Cup final, Messi led Argentina to a win against France in a nail-biting contest.
The match will go down in history books as one of the greatest ever played and is certainly the best World Cup final ever. Messi gave Argentina an early lead via a penalty before Angel di Maria scored a sublime goal to rally Argentina 2-0 up at halftime. The team from South America looked in complete control before 23-year-old Kylian Mbappe’s brilliance brought France back into the match. He scored 2 goals in 2 minutes to draw level and forced extra time.
Even in extra time, it was the man himself who gave Argentina a 3-2 lead. Messi scored his second goal of the final and it looked like the game was sealed until Mbappe scored once again. With a brilliant hat-trick, he brought France back in the game at 3-3 and forced penalties where Argentina won 4-2.
Jackson took to Twitter to share his views on the final and hailed Messi for his brilliant outing. “Messi that guy fr,” he wrote on Twitter.
Argentina become the World Champions for the third time
Argentina won the World Cup after a 36-year wait and this was their third world cup title. They made it to the final of the 2014 World Cup but lost to Germany in the final by the barest of margins. This World Cup was Messi’s last chance of winning the coveted trophy and he didn’t disappoint. He was the player of the tournament and won 5 Man of the Match awards across the last few weeks.
With this win, Messi has ended the GOAT debate between him and Cristiano Ronaldo. The only piece of silverware missing from both of their cabinets was the World Cup trophy, and it is Messi who ends up with one in Qatar.
Messi had announced that the 2022 World Cup final will be the last match of his career for Argentina but now has said that he doesn’t want to stop playing for his nation and hence, will reconsider his decision. The World Cup final will be remembered for ages and in all, the 2022 World Cup will go down in history books as one of the bests.
