“So out of character for him” Ravens HC John Harbaugh DEFENDS Lamar Jackson over his alleged homophobic rant towards a critic

After the Baltimore Ravens lost a very close game to Jacksonville Jaguars, star quarterback Lamar Jackson responded to a critic in a very derogatory manner on social media. He later deleted the tweet, but by the time he did it, it was already too late. The Ravens gave away a two-score lead in the last 6 minutes of the match, which resulted in frustration both among the players and the fans too.

One of the critics on Twitter called Jackson out for his performance and asked the team to let go of him after the season. Jackson uncharacteristically lost it and gave a very vulgar and offensive reply to the critic, which was rightly deemed homophobic by many people.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh recently said that he addressed the same with Jackson. He said that he always tells his players to stay away from social media after a match, especially after losses, as things may go south because of the flow of emotions.

“I just talk to these guys, we talk a lot about football, but we also talk a little about that stuff, too, what goes on in terms of media and everything. Really just beg guys not to get into the Twitter world right after the game, especially after a loss. It’s never going to be positive, it’s not going to be a nice place,” Harbaugh said.

Harbaugh further said that Jackson got carried away by the loss and hence went out of character to trash the critic. He added that everyone knows how well-behaved Jackson is both on and off the field and has made sure that Jackson himself understands his actions.

“I think that’s kind of reflected in Lamar’s response because what he said was just so out of character for him. That’s not the way he speaks. That’s not the way he talks. That’s not the words he ever uses. I’ve never heard him say things like that before. I’m sure he’s frustrated, just like we all are. That’s just a place you don’t want to live right after a game. I know he understands that,” he added.

Harbaugh went on to say that Jackson has one of the biggest hearts of anybody he knows. He treats kids, media, and everyone with kindness, and hence, this incident can be considered a brain fade moment for him.

“Lamar Jackson, you’ve been around him. He’s got one of the biggest hearts of anybody I know. You all have seen him. The way he treats people. The way he treats kids. The way he treats the media. He’s also one of the biggest competitors I’ve ever met. So those kinds of conversations, he takes very seriously. So he gets trapped sometimes by someone that’s baiting him just a little bit, and you can’t live there. It’s not important. I think that’s not a place he wants to be in, and certainly not the things he wants to say,” he said.

The Ravens are currently first in the AFC North division and look very positive for playoffs. They will look to better their 7-4 record for the season when they face the Broncos later this week.
