“Wilson did himself dirty,” NFL Twitter fiercely debates Zach Wilson’s future after Mike White’s thumping performance against the Bears

The New York Jets have come roaring back into winning ways, as they secured a commendable 31-10 victory against the Chicago Bears. With the victory, one of the facets which came to the fore was deputy quarterback Mike White‘s temperament as he took over the reins from Zach Wilson.

Wilson had copped heavy criticism over the past two weeks for his performance, and the final nail in the coffin came when he refused to take responsibility for the Jets’ defeat against the Patriots.

The 2nd year quarterback responded with a blunted negative answer after the Jets’ 10-3 defeat when asked about whether he had let down his defense, who had put on an immense show that night.

Robert Saleh has since given the quarterback spot to 27-year-old Mike White, and the deputy put in a performance for the ages, making a total of 315 yards alongside three touchdown passes. His performance has now made several Jets fans and NFL analysts vouch for his inclusion in the starting lineup for the remainder of the season.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh heaped praise on White during his post-match press conference. “He didn’t need to be anybody but Mike White,” Saleh said.

“We didn’t need to turn into the Greatest Show on Turf. We just wanted him to play within himself and play efficient. I thought he did that. … He made the easy look easy.”

Statistically too, Mike White had a better impact on the game than his junior pro, with the former averaging only about 2.38 seconds for making a pass, as compared to Wilson’s time of 3.08 seconds. At this point, it looks extremely difficult for Zach Wilson to make a return to the setup, and although Saleh had promised that benching Wilson for Week 12 would not necessarily mean it continues for the entire season, the situation looks grave for Wilson.
