Terry Pegula is often regarded as the most humble team owner currently in the league. The American businessman is completely devoted to Buffalo and the Bills.

Recently Pegula laid the groundwork for the new Bills stadium that will be completed in 2026. The NFL team owner addressed the crowd at 1 Bills drive. The speech by Pegula started with pure optimism, however, it soon took an emotional turn when the 72-year-old wasn’t able to stop his tears.

Terry is one of the most genuine people around and was having a hard time not to get emotional. However, he finally gave in when speaking about the TOPS shooting victims.

“There are other heroes that deserve to be mentioned,” Terry Pegula stated while talking about the TOPS shooting. The mass shooting occurred in 2022 in a TOPS supermarket that claimed the lives of 10 people and injured many. The city of Buffalo stood at a standstill after the gruesome incident.

Pegula paid tribute to all the victims that lost their lives and also gave a shout-out to his wife Kim Pegula, who has been with him through all these tumultuous times. The Bills owner also became emotional while talking to the wife of Ralph Wilson, the late founder of the team. “Ralph–we are moving across the street,” Terry Pegula said to Mary Wilson.

The new Bills stadium will be one of the cornerstones of the NFL world. However, there are some concerns regarding it.

The Buffalo Bills will be moving to a much bigger and better stadium by the start of the 2026 NFL season. The new stadium is projected to cost around $1.4 billion and the majority of the money will be paid by the taxpayers. To be precise, $850 million will be picked up by the taxpayers for their new stadium.

Terry Pegula hosted the ceremony that also included NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Pegula, Goodell, and New York City’s Governor dug into a small pot of dirt to start the work of the ambitious stadium.

“We’re going to build a stadium here, right? And we’re going to tear down a stadium over there that’s full of memories,” Pegula said. “So we need to fill this stadium with more memories and continue our legacy. We should remember the past, but embrace the building of our future.”

The stadium will come with a 30-year lease and will have the capacity to sit around 60,000 people. The new stadium is designed because the Bills’ current stadium has been deemed too expensive to renovate. Although the new stadium is celebrated by many, there are also some who have criticized the use of taxpayer money to build a stadium for a private entity.
