- The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Denver Nuggets 112-96 in Game 4, taking a 3-1 series lead.
- Charles Barkley criticized McDaniels' play, suggesting he would have retaliated if he were in a similar situation.
The Minnesota Timberwolves and Jaden McDaniels are taking it to the Denver Nuggets, led by Nikola Jokic, both on and off the court. Heading into the postseason, many predicted that the Nuggets would run away with the series after their strong end to the regular season. However, that has not been the case in the playoffs.
The Timberwolves came out on top once again as they sealed an impressive 112-96 victory over the Nuggets in Game 4 at the Target Center on Saturday night. The win gave the Wolves a 3-1 lead as the Nuggets find themselves at the brink of elimination. The series has already seen some heated moments.
Towards the end of the fourth quarter in Game 4, McDaniels and Jokic had a face-off that saw the Serbian getting ejected. After the game, Jokic said he did not regret his reaction to McDaniels’ late-game layup.
Because he scored when everybody stopped playing.

Jaden McDaniels seems to be embracing his “villain” role in the Nuggets-Wolves series. He created some controversy by calling the Nuggets a poor defensive team and naming each player in a press conference. His statements were not received well by the NBA community as it was made in the midst of the series.
In the final seconds of the fourth quarter on Saturday night, McDaniels took a wide-open layup, which triggered a reaction out of Nikola Jokic. The Serbian ran towards the Wolves forward and had a heated face-off. The whole incident saw Jokic and Julius Randle get ejected.
McDaniels shrugged off the altercation in his post-match press conference. Based on Jokic’s statements as well, he did not seem too bothered by it and had no regrets for his reaction.
Charles Barkley would put a hit on Jaden McDaniels
The whole incident was an unnecessary one. But it has added some more spice to an already heated rivalry. While McDaniels’ decision to go for the layup in the end is well within the rules of the game, it is not viewed as something ethical.

Former NBA player and Hall of Famer Charles Barkley had his say on the issue.
Imma put a hit on him. I’m not goin to lie, I have put a hit on guys. If we’re down 20, you don’t do it. If a team is up on me 20 points and a guy shoots a 3, imma give $500 to somebody to knock the hell out of him. I’ve done that before. In proud of it too. If you shoot that ball, we’re going to get you.

Just like most within the NBA community, Barkley was not pleased with McDaniels’ play. The altercation that followed is expected to cause a few fines as soon as the NBA issues a statement.
Shaquille O’Neal refuses to give Rudy Gobert his flowers
Rudy Gobert may end his career as one of the greatest defenders of all time in terms of accolades. He has won four Defensive Player of the Year awards, which is the most in NBA history. However, despite his defensive accomplishments, he does face a lot of criticism for being a liability during the playoffs.
But things have been different so far. It is impossible to stop Nikola Jokic from getting what he wants; however, Gobert has done a fine job in putting the clamps on the Serb in this series. Jokic has struggled to find any rhythm as he is shooting at below 40% from the field.
Former NBA champion, Shaquille O’Neal, has often been critical of Gobert. Despite his strong defensive performances against Jokic, the four-time champion refused to praise the Frenchman.
Joker has dominated him a lot. He has one bad game…. When you’re a guy like Joker, you’re just missing shots. I’m not going to sit up here and say Rudy Gobert is shutting him down, I’m never going to say that.

While O’Neal is right about Jokic dominating Gobert multiple times in the past, it hasn’t been so in the playoffs this year. If Gobert can continue to put in such performances as the playoffs progress, even O’Neal will eventually have to give in and give the Wolves center his flowers.
