The world of Athletics has been under scrutiny for weeks now regarding several developments involving transgender athletes. At the end of March, UK Athletics announced a ban on transgender athletes from competing in events related to girls and women.
The US House and the World Athletics followed suit and laid out similar bans. Several trans athletes have since come together to protest against this and swimmer Lia Thomas is one of them.
The NCAA champion has faced a lot of backlash for her involvement in women’s games. The trans swimmer has also been demanded to relinquish her titles and honors by others. Outkick founder and host of Outkick coverage, Clay Travis brutally slammed Thomas regarding her statement of not receiving enough support from women.
The trans swimmer is no doubt one of the best when it comes to swimming. She has set various records in her short career so far. However many have called her out to be a cheater and said that she should have competed in the male category. Fellow swimmer Riley Gaines has continued to stand by her point of Thomas‘ cheating her way through the whole competition.
Lia Thomas claims her attackers are misogynistic transphobes
Lia Thomas has been the center of attention ever since the ban on trans athletes was imposed. Appearing at the podcast of fellow trans swimmer Schuyler Bailar, Thomas called out her “feminist” challengers as misogynistic transphobes. The athlete informed that her own teammates at the University of Pennsylvania were biased against her.
“They’re like, ‘Oh we respect Lia, as a woman. as a trans woman or whatever, we respect her identity, we just don’t think its fair,” Thomas recalled the situation. “They are using the guise of feminism to sort of push transphobic beliefs,” Thomas added in her statement and said that the women themselves are not supporting her.
At the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton show, host Clay Travis called out Thomas for her words at the podcast earlier. “How about the balls on this dude. How about the balls on him. I mean the dude with balls has just said women arent supporting me enough for being a women.”
“This is where we are. Mans got a p**** and t******* and he is out here saying, ‘Hey who come women arent supporting me enough, you all are a bunch of misogynist, thats the world we live, how dare you?” Travis said on his show.
Thomas does not find herself in a legal battle as Riley Gaines filed a $2 million lawsuit against her. Gaines has asked to be compensated for the damage she has faced from Thomas for cheating and showing off her private male organs in a women’s changing room when she was participating.
