Para-badminton coach Gaurav Khanna recommended for the Dronacharya Award

Para-badminton coach Gaurav Khanna’s contribution to the sport is exceptional. Since 2014, he has been creating champions. India has won 319 medals at the international stage under his tenure. His selfless efforts have put India on up high as a formidable force in para-badminton globally. In recognition of his contributions, the National Sports Awards Selection Committee has recommended for the prestigious Dronacharya award under the regular category.

A coach adored by his disciples

Gaurav Khanna is not just a para-badminton coach. His wards hold him in high regards. He is their mentor, a coach with a difference who motivates his students, approaches them with warmth and takes an individual interest in every player to get the best out of them.  A former player himself, and a commando turned coach, he brings on the court his passion, skills and dedication as he works tirelessly to nurture champions.

In a conversation with Firstsportz, coach Gaurav Khanna expressed that he feels honoured and privileged to have been recommended to be recognised with prestigious highest sports coaching award of the country this year. He conveyed his heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the support he has received from the fraternity.

After years of hard work, the coach has been recommended for the Dronacharya award. His students had earlier voiced their opinions on social media. when he was not recommended for the award in the past. The official recognition this year is truly great and a huge morale booster for the coach and his athletes. With much motivation and recognition coming in the way for para-badminton, it brings so much benefit to the sport. It paves way for it to grow leaps and bounds.

The Yash Bharti awardee treads with a vision to bring more golds at the 2024 and 2028 Paralympics. His optimism, motivation and hard work is exemplary. More power to Mr. Gaurav Khanna and good luck in all his endeavours in bringing laurels for the country.
