In Short
  • Patrick Mahomes trolled Travis Kelce on social media after Kelce became a minority owner of the Cleveland Guardians.
  • Kelce had expressed his dream of owning a piece of the Guardians back in 2022.
  • Mahomes and Kelce's business ventures are seen as preparations for life after their football careers.

Patrick Mahomes has led all Kansas City Chiefs players in his entrepreneurial endeavors with varied investments in sports teams and other businesses. Close friend and favorite pass catcher Travis Kelce is not far behind, and has been slowly stepping up his efforts.

One might point to the difference in contract sizes between the two, with the tight end having earned less than half of his quarterback’s so far.

However, Kelce has been investing in various smaller ventures well before Mahomes started. In fact, it was the latter’s investments in the MLB franchise, the Kansas City Royals, and the MLS franchise Sporting Kansas City put him on the celebrity investors’ map.

When he became a part-owner of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current, his efforts to expand his portfolio drew significant public attention. At the time, investments in women’s sports were not a highly sought-after affair.

It seems the three-time Super Bowl MVP winner felt it was better to get on board early. Travis Kelce, on the other hand, has only his investment in the Alpine Formula 1 team to show for as far as sports teams go. Now, he adds one more to that list.

Congrats! Travis Kelce.

The signal caller wrote this while reposting a clip in which his close friend threw a horrible first pitch at Progressive Field, home of the MLB franchise, the Cleveland Guardians.

This was Mahomes trolling Kelce after the latter became a minority owner in his hometown team. The chemistry between the two has become a major storyline when it comes to the Chiefs. Now that they are rival owners, it has led to this, where one is taking shots at the other.

Travis Kelce manifested Guardians’ ownership back in 2022

The difference in career earnings between Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes can be cited as one of the major reasons why the former had to wait this long to invest in the Cleveland Guardians.

I’m down to shock the world to become a baseball owner. I’ve always wanted to have a piece of the Cleveland Guardians because they gave me so much excitement growing up. I knew I was never going to actually swing a bat for them… Dream’s still alive.

Travis Kelce said in 2022

This was New Heights reposting a video from their first season, when Travis Kelce talked about his desire to become a part-owner of their home-state team.

Where Mahomes invested in the Royals in 2020, it has taken his tight end six years to fulfil his dream, even though the 36-year-old is about to be married to a billionaire.

After reports of their ironclad prenup, it is a guarantee that Kelce will have to fend for himself whenever he wants to expand his business portfolio.

Analyst not high on Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce’s Chiefs in 2026

These business ventures are for Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce to lean on once their football careers are done and dusted. Now, they have a task at hand as preparations are underway for the 2026 season.

They’ve got Mahomes and Reid… What else do they have?… Once you go through position groups in the league, you tell me where the Chiefs are elite. Where is the blue-chip talent?

Jason McIntyre said on The Herd

Despite enjoying a slightly favorable schedule, the analyst first questioned whether the organization has fixed its two glaring problems from last season, the wide receiver group and the offensive line.

McIntyre pointed out how the Chiefs have done nothing in those areas, as well as their secondary. Therefore, he is not sure that this team, even with the addition of Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III, is good enough to be successful.
