In Short
  • Shedeur Sanders is competing with Deshaun Watson for the starting quarterback position with the Cleveland Browns.
  • Shilo Sanders criticized reporter Mary Kay Cabot for her negative portrayal of his brother's performance in the QB battle.
  • General Manager Andrew Berry stated that neither quarterback currently has an advantage in the competition.

Shedeur Sanders is currently battling it out with Deshaun Watson on the practice field to become the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns.

There is no doubt that the young slinger has an experience deficit when compared to his veteran teammate. But he still has the tools to beat out Watson, who has struggled ever since he came to Cleveland.

New head coach Todd Monken and the top brass have continuously insisted that Watson’s monstrous salary, or his experience, will not be the defining factors in this battle.

Despite that, Cleveland.com reporter Mary Kay Cabot revealed that the Clemson alum is clearly ahead of Shedeur Sanders in the QB1 battle, and that the Browns should make it official so that the starting signal caller can get to work with the first-team offense.

GM Andrew Berry contradicted those claims and reiterated that neither QB has an edge over the other at the moment. This led Shilo Sanders to say this while on his live stream.

This is to Mary Kay. If you’re gonna be a reporter, be a reporter and report facts. Whenever you have your opinion, and your opinion is always something hateful to Shedeur, then it makes it seem like it’s an agenda you have going on… With you it’s so much emotion. I don’t want you to make women look bad.

Shilo Sanders said

The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ star stressed that Mary Kay Cabot always seems to have an agenda against his brother. That makes it harder for women in sports, as her opinion ends up sounding crazy, especially when there are no facts to support her claims.

Mary Kay Cabot takes the high road after Shilo Sanders flamed her on Shedeur Sanders’ claim

This was not Shilo Sanders‘ first tryst with Mary Kay Cabot after she claimed that Shedeur Sanders had lost out on the QB1 battle to Deshaun Watson.

Go make a sandwich, Mary.

Shilo Sanders wrote on X

The free agent safety wrote this on X, but then took it down after facing tremendous backlash. What it did do was draw the veteran journalist to talk about it on 92.3 The Fan.

I know so many women who have joined the football world, especially because of some of the things I’ve been able to do over the years. I’m happy about that.

Mary Kay Cabot replied

Even the host of the radio station understood that she was taking the high road. Cabot did not want to explicitly respond to Shilo Sanders’ taunt and chose to avoid making it bigger than it already was.

But the Colorado Buffaloes alum was clear that he was incessed by her making claims when the QB1 battle his brother is involved in is far from settled.

Stephen A. Smith wants Browns should give Deshaun Watson a chance at QB1 over Shedeur Sanders

While Mary Kay Cabot courted a lot of criticism from both Shilo Sanders and fans for her claim about Shedeur Sanders losing the QB1 job, some believe pivoting to Deshaun Watson makes sense for the Browns.

Shedeur Sanders is on the sidelines now. He obviously has a boat-load of potential… I think it’s best for the organization and the city to give Deshaun Watson every last chance imaginable to justify that bag that he got. This is the last chance.

Stephen A. Smith said on First Take

The ESPN analyst pointed out that instead of having the sophomore signal caller struggle from the start in a new offense, both the Browns and the new head coach should go with someone who has proved to be really good at that position in the past.

If that experiment fails, Todd Monken can always lean back on Shedeur Sanders. But not giving Watson a chance to prove he can return to his otherworldly ways will be senseless, especially with the money they are paying him.
