Cam Ward remains committed to winning for the Tennessee Titans despite recent string of losses.

Cam Ward is currently on thin ice. The line of questioning he faces from Tennessee media kind of gives that away. Even a casual sports fan can tell.

Ward is 3-19 as the Titans’ starting quarterback. He’s 0-5 in 2026 and 0-6 in the last six starts stretching back to last season.

The Titans media are used to seeing the team lose, but this streak has become too much, and they are taking their frustration out on the 24-year-old signal caller.

On Wednesday, three days after losing to the Texans, a reporter asked Ward whether being the first overall pick in the draft was a burden. Ward quickly denied it.

No. It’s not gonna be easy. We’re in the NFL. We’re in the 1% for a reason… When they drafted me, it was one of the best days ever. I get to go to an organization that didn’t have the wins, the championships that everybody had, and I get to be a part of it when we get a chance to turn it around. We have that opportunity each and every week, and I look forward to doing that.

This wasn’t the first time Ward faced a tough question from the media. Prior to last week’s fixture, a reporter tried to trap him with a tricky question.

He asked if Ward was slowly becoming accustomed to losing. Ward denied the claim with a fiery reply. He highlighted that he was a winner in college, and so were most of his teammates. They are playing pro football because NFL teams believed in them.

Ward went 10-3 in his final year with the Miami Hurricanes. He set the Canes ‘ single-season passing yards record (4,313). He had 43 total touchdowns and 7 interceptions.

The Titans drafted him first overall instead of Shedeur Sanders and Tyler Shough. Ward won 3 games in his rookie year, which got Brian Callahan fired. The Titans appointed Robert Saleh soon after. Saleh coached the 49ers’ defense in 2025. Before that, he was the head coach of the New York Jets.

Even during tough times, Saleh has kept faith in Ward. “Really cool conversation with Cam this week. He’s in a good headspace, and he’s got a lot of confidence in the o-line,” Saleh said via FOX Sports.

Former NFL quarterback gives a wild suggestion to Titans about Cam Ward’s future

Ward’s not the first young quarterback to struggle on a bad NFL team, and he won’t be the last. Hall of Famers Peyton Manning and Troy Aikman barely won games in their first few years. But they eventually pulled through and won multiple championships.

Ward could easily follow in the footsteps of his predecessors. However, there’s a high percentage chance he ends up like JaMarcus Russell— who is considered one of the biggest draft busts of all time.

Former NFL quarterback and member of the Amazon Prime Thursday Night broadcast, Ryan Fitzpatrick, suggested a solution that might save Ward’s career. Fitzpatrick urged the Titans to bench Ward for a few games.

I actually believe in Cam Ward. … I think the best thing for his development is to put him on the bench for the next few games. [Guess what?] I’ve been in this situation plenty. It’s going to provide him [with] a different perspective. He’s going to be able to take a step back; he’s going to get to watch somebody else operate [on] offense.

Fitzpatrick said on the Fitz & Whit Show

Fitzpatrick spoke from experience. During his career, Fitzpatrick was benched several times. It helped him grow as a signal caller. He spent 16 seasons in the league playing for nine different teams, including the Titans in 2013.

Fitzpatrick recommended that Saleh start ten-year vet Mitch Trubisky for a few games and let him demonstrate the full potential of Brian Daboll’s offense.

It’s not a bad suggestion on paper. The Panthers benched former first overall pick Bryce Young in his second season. The Panthers’ plan worked as Young showed improvement.

The Panthers went 8-8 and qualified for the playoffs. They are 2-2 this year, with Young throwing for 1268 yards, 9 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. The ball is now in the Titans’ court.
