Roman Reigns will shoot to become a 7-time world champion in WWE this Sunday at WrestleMania 42 when he takes on CM Punk. Both men have said enough mean things to each other in the past couple of months or more, and they’re still going at each other. ‘The Best in the World’ recently sat down with Corey Graves for a short but effective conversation.

Punk imposed himself as the fighting champion and affirmed that’s what the fans are going to get on the other side of WrestleMania if he keeps the title by himself. The 47-year-old kept bringing it up during the interview that Reigns was coddled by the management for years despite failing in his spot. Punk couldn’t wrap his head around how Reigns somehow figured it out to reach a level that he’s at today.

‘The Second City Saint’ also mocked Reigns for bragging about having main-evented WrestleMania ten times already and now going for the eleventh one. Punk asked Graves how many of them do the fans remember Reigns for. They’re not the ones where he won, and his most talked-about WrestleMania moment is when he lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes.

It didn’t take long for Roman Reigns to clap back at CM Punk. ‘The OTC’ posted his response on social media, as seen below. ‘The Tribal Chief’ said that Punk has defended the World Heavyweight title three times after holding it for like a year. That claim is factually distorted, as the Chicagoan has had four successful title defenses since winning it in November, which means he’s still shy of a half-year-long reign at this point.

Reigns stated that Punk’s not a fighting champion and he’s not a fighter either. “We’ve seen how that went,” followed Reigns, taking a dig at Punk’s failed UFC career. As for the latter’s “coddled by the management” swipe for ‘The OTC’, Reigns doubled down on it by saying that it’s been that way because the people in charge knew from the beginning that he was money.

Reigns told them that he’s an unsigned, billion-dollar check. He then asserted that Punk doesn’t have that sort of confidence because he’s not the man that Reigns is. ‘The Head of the Table’ felt disgusted at the mere thought of being equals with the ‘Second City Saint’ and added that it’ll take only a couple of minutes into their match to make everyone realize that Punk could never be on his level.

The former Bloodline leader, in turn, said that the entire industry coddles Punk just by having him in it. Reigns stressed that WWE put its entire reputation on the line to bring back Punk because some hundred thousand internet marks have always rooted for him. ‘The Big Dog’ also trashed Punk’s journey on the indies, deeming it an embarrassment.

‘The Voice of the Voiceless’ said in his promo this past Monday on Raw that he found his real family in the colleagues and friends he made along the way while grinding on the independent circuit. Circling back to Reigns, he said that not a single legend in his iconic wrestling dynasty respected Punk. “On Sunday, it ends for you,” said Reigns to close it out.

Pat McAfee backs Roman Reigns to beat CM Punk at WrestleMania 42

After having formed an uncalled-for alliance with Randy Orton against Cody Rhodes, Pat McAfee is now leaning toward Roman Reigns as well. McAfee quoted a reply to Reigns’ aforementioned response to CM Punk. The former NFL punter used the term “IWC nerds” to address the vocal wrestling fans on the internet that have been incensed with his involvement in the Orton/Rhodes story.

McAfee said that the business is about to be saved by Orton this Saturday, and he added that Reigns will drive it home a night later. The fans were quick to point out the plot holes in his work, as he was the one to knock on the WrestleMania Sunday card this past week on SmackDown, where he even asked the fans to not waste their money for that.

And now he’s backing Reigns, the man set to close out WrestleMania on Sunday? This, and almost everything that McAfee has done in recent weeks, hasn’t sat well with the fans at all. McAfee taking sudden interest in Reigns’ showdown with Punk has the WWE Universe thinking that he might get involved in that match as well. That will make up for a disastrous finish to the show. Isn’t it?
