The iconic Sawai Mansingh Stadium, named after Maharaja Sawai Mansingh II, was built during his reign in 1969 in the picturesque state of Rajasthan. Located near the Ranbagh Circle in Jaipur- the capital of Rajasthan, it is considered one of the best stadiums in India and has a seating capacity of over 30,000.

Owned by the Rajasthan Cricket Association, the stadium underwent renovation in 2006 at a cost of Rs 400 crore. It has also a well-equipped indoor stadium and is the home ground of Jaipur Pink Panthers, a Pro Kabaddi League team.

The first international match was played in 1983 between India and Pakistan, shortly after the conclusion of the 1983 World Cup. India, led by the legendary Kapil Dev, were brimming with confidence having won the coveted cup a few days ago and defeated the visitors.

In total, this venue has hosted just one Test match, between India and Pakistan, back in 1987. The first ODI was played in 1983, while the first T20I was played in November 2021. At this venue, Virat Kohli slammed the fastest ODI century for India while chasing a mammoth total of 359 against Australia. MS Dhoni played an unbeaten knock of 183 back in 2005, which is the highest score here. The stadium has also hosted matches of the 1987 and 1996 Cricket World Cup, the 2006 Women’s Asia Cup, and the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy.
