The first ATP tournament after the US Open, the Moselle Open will commence from September 20 and will feature Hubert Hurkacz as the top seed while Pablo Carreno Busta comes in as the second seed. 3-time grand slam champion Andy Murray also gets a wildcard.

Men’s Singles Draw Preview and Prediction

Miami Open champion Hubert Hurkacz will headline the packed top half of the draw and gets a first round bye. He will face a qualifier or Lucas Pouille in the Round of 16. Andy Murray got a wild card entry into the main draw and will face 6th seed Ugo Humbert in a blockbuster first round match. The winner will face either Vasek Pospisil or Gregoire Barrere in the Round of 16. Either of Murray or Humbert is expected to face Hurkacz in the quarterfinal.

4th seed Alex de Mianur too gets an opening round bye and is expected to face either Marcos Giron or Arthur Rinderknech in the second round. Meanwhile French veteran Richard Gasquet opens against a qualifier and could face 7th seed Karen Khachanov who also opens against a qualifier.

Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta will headline the bottom half of the draw and will face either Jeremy Chardy or Jan-Lennard Struff in the Round of 16 after receiving a first round bye. Italian 5th seed Lorenzo Sonego kick starts his campaign against Hungarian Marton Fucsovics and will face the winner of Alexei Popyrin vs Pedro Martinez. Carreno Busta and Sonego are expected to meet in the quarterfiinals.

Home favorite Gael Monfils has been handed a first round bye and is expected to face Italian Marco Cecchinato in the second round. 8th seed Nikoloz Basilashvili will take on Gianluca Mager in the first round and would face either of Gilles Simon or Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the Round of 16.

2nd Semifinal Prediction: Gael Monfils vs Pablo Carreno Busta

The first semifinal will feature top seed Hubert Hurkacz and Olympic silver medallist Karen Khachanov. Hurkacz will go in as the favorite but will be wary of Khachanov’s abilities on the hard courts.

Third seed Gael Monfils and Pablo Carreno Busta will clash in the second semifinal. Carreno Busta will be the favorite on paper but that will be neutralized by the home support Monfils will get. Expect a thrilling match with the Frenchman coming out the victor.
