Danielle Collins vs Viktorija Golubic: Preview
The American comes into this match after having beaten Polona Hercog in three sets in the first round. She hit 24 winners to 33 unforced errors in her pervious match. Collins hasn’t played any warm up event on grass before coming into the Championships. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how she deals with the lack of match practice going ahead. The 27-year-old reached the third round at 2019 Wimbledon, which has also been her best at the All England Club.
On the other hand, the Swiss player comes into this round after beating Veronika Kudermetova in three titanic sets. She won the last set 11-9. Golubic also has played eight matches on the grass before coming to the Championships. She even reached the quarterfinals of Eastbourne before losing to Anett Kontaveit. The 28-year-old has already beaten big names Belinda Bencic and Sam Stosur on the grass. Therefore, she will be keen on carrying her decent run and try to make more inroads in the women’s draw.
Danielle Collins vs Viktorija Golubic: Head to Head
These two have never met on the WTA tour.
Danielle Collins vs Viktorija Golubic: Prediction
Both players have played three sets in their previous round and therefore it will be interesting to see how they respond in this contest. Perhaps, Golubic might be tight after her grueling last set against Kudermetova. That said, the Swiss player has spent more time on the grass and that might come to bail her out at the end against a relatively unprepared Collins. Nonetheless, expect a three setter.
Match Prediction: Viktorija Golubic should win in three sets.
