German tennis player Alexander Zverev has praised ATP Finals top seed Novak Djokovic ahead of his second match of the tournament against Daniil Medvedev. He opined that age is just a number for the Serb. Djokovic might be 36 years old but plays like someone who is much younger.

In fact, Zverev said that one might argue that Djokovic is in better shape than he was 10 years ago.

He's 36 years old, but he looks like he's 26, 27. He might be even in better shape than he was ten years ago. So... it doesn't really even seem that he looks like he's going to stop

Despite Djokovic’s loss in his second match of the 2023 ATP Finals against Jannik Sinner, he remains one of the favorites to win the tournament. Alexander Zverev and the Serb are in different groups, though. The Serb is in the green group alongside Holger Rune, Hubert Hurkacz, and Sinner, while Zverev is in the red group alongside Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Andrey Rublev. Thus, they can not meet against each other before the semifinals.

Talking about Zverev’s campaign in the tournament so far, he managed to register a major comeback win in his first match against second seed Alcaraz, which gave him a big boost. He will take on Medvedev in his second match. A win against the Russian will almost ensure a place in the semifinals for the German player.

Alexander Zverev says Novak Djokovic takes very good care of his body

The World No. 7 opined that the reason why Djokovic is still up and running at the age of 36 is that he takes better care of his body than any other player. The Serb is extremely disciplined and goes through the same rituals every single day.

I think he's a player that takes care of his body the best out of everybody. I think he goes through his rituals pretty much every single day. He takes care of himself, and that's his number one priority above everything else. I think he's done extremely well doing that over the last few years

Zverev and Djokovic have played a total of 12 matches against each other. Djokovic won 8 of those matches while Zverev won 4. It would be a really interesting encounter if the two players lock horns in the 2023 ATP Finals.
