Italy’s Camila Giorgi started the season with an entry into the Top 30 but her inconsistent performances and lack of form in the matches saw an invariable drop in her rankings. Giorgi faced a second-round exit at the 2022 US Open by the American Madison Keys even after playing some good level of tennis. However, it seems like although her on-court life is at sea, she has managed to strike a balance in her personal life with the sweet blossom of love and companionship.
Giorgi’s relationship status has been the talk of the town after she was rumored to be in a relationship with the young Argentine ATP player Santiago Rodriguez Taverna, who is seven years her junior. Although Giorgi has denied their relationship a few times and also said, “No need to try, I won’t say anything!”, she has recently been spotted kissing Taverna. Likewise, Taverna was spotted in Giorgi’s box a couple of times during matches, as a show of support for his girlfriend.
Camila Giorgi is hopeful of a great start next season
Camila Giorgi did not quite have a great hard-court season in the WTA matches that led up to the US Open. After her exit, she said “In the last few weeks I’ve been concentrating a lot on training. But I really appreciate the messages that come to me, they are always very nice. I’ll be back but I had other things to do.” She hits the ball with relentless power and is known to be one of the hardest hitters on the tour.
She has a unique style of play as she frequently utilizes aggressive serve-forehand combinations to finish points quickly. In 2015, Giorgi served the most double faults recorded in WTA history, at 458. During the French Open, she cruised her way into the fourth round defeating Aryna Sabalenka which was her first fourth-round appearance at Roland Garros. She has a good record against top-seed players at various tournaments.
Apart from her game, her outfits at the tournaments have been the talk of the town as she always selects outfits that are totally something out of the box and sometimes controversial also due to not as per the WTA norms. Recently, during the French Open, the size of the brand name label on her outfit was quite debatable and controversial.
