The Spaniard earned a whopping $10,102,330 this year through his participation and winning numerous tournaments this season. He won the Miami Open and Madrid Open, both ATP 1000 tournaments. He also won two ATP 500 tournaments- Rio Open and the Barcelona Open. But the biggest prize money earnings came from the US Open which added £2.1 million ($2.6 million) to his kitty.

He could have earned even more than this, however, he could not participate in the 2022 ATP Finals. Novak Djokovic won the Wimbledon and four ATP titles including the 2022 ATP Finals trophy as an undefeated champion. This added £3.8 million ($4.7 million) to his treasury.

He earned a total of $9,934,582. But this was not enough to surpass Alcaraz as the top earner this year. The Spaniard got the help from ATP Bonus pool. According to this rule, There are eight players this year who are qualified for the bonus pool, and four of them will receive extra money if they fulfill their obligations to play in the ATP Finals and the ATP 1000 tournaments.

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic have met only once this season. They met in the semi-final round match of the Madrid Open. On the clay surface, the Spaniard defeated the Serb 6-7, 7-5, 7-6 to advance into the next round and eventually win the title.

The 35-year-old could have had another chance to take revenge for this loss but an unfortunate injury to Carlos Alcaraz sustained during the 2022 Paris Masters semi-final round match against Holger Rune bereft him of this chance. But the 2023 season will give enough chances to both the champions to test each other.

The Australian Open is just around the corner. The nine-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic will be back in Down Under to win his career’s 22nd Grand Slam title. Carlos Alcaraz will also be fancying his chances to win the first Grand Slam of the year after winning the 2022 US Open.
