Daniil Medvedev
The Hard-court king, as co-called by many of the fans around, Russian fourth seed Daniil Medvedev stops Jannik Sinner to clinch his fifth Masters title. With this win over the Italian, the Former US champion has moved to 6-0 in their head-to-head. This Miami Masters title is the first ATP-1000 title of Medvedev in 2023 and that comes in a dominating fashion as he lost only 1 set throughout the tournament (against Karen Khachanov in the semi-finals).
The final score in the final was 7-5, 6-3. After the match, An overwhelmed Russian said, “I’m really happy. Today was a tough match. It was probably the hottest day and the most humid during the day, It was not easy conditions. I don’t know if Jannik had a small injury or cramp. I was also struggling, tried not to show it.”
After improving to 24-1 in his past five weeks, Medevedev continued, “I haven’t won’t such a big title in probably a year and a half,At the end I was quite shaky. Not even tight, because I’m not scared to win. But still the hands get a little shaky so the serve is a little bit tougher… I managed to get myself together and close the match.”
Red hot Medvedev is truly back to his best

By winning his fourth title in the last five events, it is safe to say that the Former US champion Daniil Medvedev is back to his best. Despite the sole loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the Indian Wells Masters final, Medvedev has won 24 out of his last 25 matches. The Miami Masters title is his first ATP-1000 title after Toronto 2021.
Medvedev’s impressive performance at the Indian Wells tournament was a really good sign for him. Having already won his first Grand Slam title at the US Open in 2021, his momentum in the past weeks suggested that he could be a strong contender for future titles even though there were struggles at the tennis paradise mostly due to the slower court speed.
In the Miami Masters, Daniil Medvedev made the most of the quick courts as he won his maiden title. The former World No. 1 has dropped only one set, during his semi-final win over compatriot Karen Khachanov defeating him 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-3 during the whole tournament. He was on a 19-match winning streak before World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz defeated him in the finals of the Indian Wells Masters last week.
With a lot of confidence gained from this title, Medvedev will move to his least favorite surface – Clay court to do a bit of magic as he hopes to do. Jannik Sinner also had a terrific tournament having beaten the World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz in a mouth-watering semi-final clash and giving himself a good fight in the finals.
