The Australian tennis superstar Nick Kyrgios is perhaps going through the most difficult phase of his career. He is already under fire from tennis fans for missing out on important tournaments right at the start of the season, such as the United Cup 2023 and the Australian Open 2023. However, the new revelations that came out have shocked the tennis community and dented his public image even further.
Nick Kyrgios’ ex-girlfriend, Chiara Passari, had accused him of assaulting her. This occurrence purportedly occurred in January 2021, but a formal complaint was lodged by Ms. Passari only in December of that year, after they broke up. He pushed Ms. Passari to the ground during a verbal argument after going out for dinner in the Canberra suburb of Kingston, Australia.
The 27-year old came to the court for hearing in a pair of crutches along with his current girlfriend and his mother. The hearing was earlier scheduled for September 2022; however, the case got adjourned at his request. He was able to participate in the US Open 2022. His lawyers also tried to dismiss the case against him on mental health grounds; however, the Australian has now pleaded guilty in the case.
“There’s only so much I can control and I’m taking all the steps and dealing with that off the court,” he had said about the case and the allegations earlier.

Social media is reacting to Nick Kyrgios’ revelations

Nick Kyrgios may be the latest tennis superstar to find himself in legal troubles, but he certainly is not the first one. However, he may be one of the few tennis players who does not have to serve his time in prison.
When sentencing Mr. Kygrios, Magistrate Beth Campbell said he had been “a young man trying to extricate himself from a heighted emotional situation. You acted in the heat of the moment. I am dealing with you in the same way I would deal with any young man in this court. You are a young man who happens to hit a tennis ball particularly well.”
A few days ago, Alexander Zverev also got a clean chit on the abuse complaints filed by his ex-girlfriend Olya Sharypova from the ATP after a lengthy investigation. However, the social media is not taking the new revelations that came in the 2022 Wimbledon finalist’s case lightly. Many are commenting on it. Some are shocked while others are sympathetic to him. Here are a few reactions that came in.
Now he’s gonna get no consequence whatsoever here, just like Zverev never did, nor will https://t.co/KgFY5LZAmV

If this isn’t bad enough, he also pulled the mental health card. Insulting to all those who are genuinely struggling with inner demons. Stay classy Nick https://t.co/9WOHLbyIUh

Nick Kyrgios is trying to recover from a knee injury and would like to return to the court soon. However, it is expected that he may lack the support and love that he gets from tennis fans when he plays this season.
