Serena Williams’ step-mother Lakeisha Williams has had a track record of failed business ventures, which has left her with staggering debt. She was involved in such dodgy business deals before even meeting the father of Serena Williams, King Richard. Now, she is on the brink of losing the Williams’ iconic Florida property.
Aged 44 now, King Richard met Lakeisha Williams back when she was in her 20s. She used to be stripper called Angel, who worked for a nightclub in Miami. Perhaps, King Richard had no idea as to what the future held for him. He contested that his ex-wife Lakeisha had faked his signature for the title deeds for the $1.4 million home in Florida.
Due to her huge mounting debt, the home is on the brink of foreclosure. Working with her aunt Betty Dowling over the years, she currently stays in the Palm Beach Gardens property, which has been contested by her ex-husband. She struck a deal worth $255,000 with hard lender David Simon, which she splashed on a failed truck business. David Simon accused her of not even playing a penny back, as Lakeisha Williams spent it on “fast food and frivolities.”

Lakeisha Williams finds herself in a huge pile of debt
Lakeisha Williams has filed for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy on two occasions to save her property from being auctioned at half the market value. The condition of the house has rapidly deteriorated over the years. She owes David Simon a staggering sum of $610,000.
Lakeisha Williams’ business deals started back in 2000, alongside her aunt. Before she met King Richard, she had already applied for six mortgages worth $481,000, failing to repay almost half of it. She even had seven lawsuits to her name before she met Serena Williams’ father.
Apart from David Simon, there are about creditors including banks, car finance firms waiting for their dues to be paid. She is currently involved in a fiercely contested divorce with King Richard, who also filed an elder abuse lawsuit.
“I can’t remember how long it was into the relationship as far as my dad starting to have financial headaches, like, ‘What’s going on with my social security checks?’ Lakeisha took the Mercedes, she took the bus, she took money, what else was it? The motorcycle,” King Richard’s son Chavoita Lesane had said in an earlier interview.
“There are so many things that she stole or forged documents for him. That’s considered elder abuse. We’re just putting all of it together, it’s a lot. This whole situation has been frustrating,” he added.
