Frances Tiafoe is one of those tennis superstars who have a huge fan following. He is not only known for his brilliance on the court but also his funny gimmicks that entertain the crowd and tennis fans. His matches attract huge crowds. The stadiums are filled with cheering tennis fans whenever he walks out on the court.


The American is currently playing at the Dallas Open 2023. In the quarter-final round of the same tournament against Jeffrey John “J.J.” Wolf, the World No.14 was seen struggling. However, a spark of brilliance was seen from him in this match.

He made a soft backhand return against Wolf in the match. The ball bounced early and Wolf had to reach out to the net to play his shot. Tiafoe thought that the ball has bounced twice in Wolf’s half, however, the umpire did not make the call. Meanwhile, the 24-year old played the ball into Tiafoe’s half. The 25-year old had to run for it and with a backhand hit the winner.

American sports broadcaster Tennis TV, shared an excerpt of this video on social media.

Despite his brilliant tactics, Frances Tiafoe lost the match 6-4, 3-6, 4-6 and was knocked out of the tournament. Meanwhile, J.J. Wolf will play against John Isner in the semi-final round of the Dallas Open.

The 25-year old was impeccable during the 2023 United Cup. With his performances he helped Team USA to become winners of the inaugural edition of this mixed-gender format competition. His pairing with Madison Keys was the highlight of the tournament as both the players remained undefeated throughout the tournament.


This win gave him a huge confidence boost. Frances Tiafoe came to the Australian Open 2023 carrying this confidence. He reached the third round of the first Grand Slam of the season, however, the challenge of Karen Khachanov was insurmountable for him. He lost the match 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7(11)-6(9).

The American then returned to home soil to participate in the Dallas Open 2023. He won his first round match against Mackenzie McDonald 6-1, 6-3. But he lost his quarter-final round match against J.J. Wolf.

His fans would hope that the American is able to find his rhythm back again. He too would like to win an ATP title this year in home tournaments in front of his supporters.
