Grigor Dimitrov enthralled the world with his smash shot down the line to earn a point in his first-round fixture against Jan-Lennard Struff of the Miami Open. The shot looked almost impossible to execute but the way the Bulgarian did that, won hearts of tennis fans.
Grigor Dimitrov’s shot is also special since he was able to produce such an extraordinary shot at a very important time. He lost the first set but bounced back to win the second set in the tie-breaker. Hence, he had to win the third and deciding set. With this shot he won the second point in the third set. This helped him to gain the rhythm which helped him eventually to win the third set and the match. He eventually won the match 4-6, 7-6 (7/5), 6-4.
The American sports broadcaster Tennis TV which is the official broadcaster of this tournament shared an excerpt of this video on social media.
“DIMI DID THAT. Superhuman shot by @GrigorDimitrov!” the caption read.
“Oh…He’s got him. Just a second point in the deciding set and we are already after top gear here. Unbelievable! I mean he kept himself in the point and then he was able to produce this. Probably not the best volley from Struff but still an amazing shot,” the two commentators were heard praising the shot.
Meanwhile, Grigor Dimitrov also gave his opinions on the shot he played in the match in an on-court interview.
“You don’t need shots like that to feel like a million bucks – I think it’s an attitude every day,” he said.
Grigor Dimitrov will take on Jannik Sinner in the second round of this tournament.

Grigor Dimitrov’s performances this season
The 31-year old started his season by playing in the Australian Open. He was able to reach the third round but the challenge of eventual champion Novak Djokovic was too great for him. In the ATP Rotterdam Open, he looked great. He gave some amazing performances to reach the semi-final round of this competition. However, here his luck ran out and fell to eventual champion Daniil Medvedev.
Grigor Dimitrov also participated in this tournament in the doubles discipline with Nicolas Mahut. The French-Bulgarian pair reached the Quarter-finals round but lost to all-German pair of Tim Putz and Kevin Krawietz. He subsequently played in the Open 13 but was knocked out of the tournament in the Quarter-finals by Alexander Bublik.
At the Indian Wells Open, he could not do much as he was knocked out of the tournament in the first round itself by Jason Kubler. He also participated in this competition in the doubles discipline with Hubert Hurkacz. In their first round, they were able to defeat World No.2 pair Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury. However, in their second-round match, they lost to eventual champion pair of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden.
