On Friday, reports confirmed that Tiger Woods had checked out of the rehabilitation program in Zurich, Switzerland. The 15-time major champion was spotted grinning as he stepped out.

Woods found himself in trouble in late March following another high-profile car crash. On March 28, the golfer’s luxury SUV flipped over near his residence in Jupiter, Florida, after swerving away from a cleaner truck.

The PGA Tour star blew a 0.00 on the alcohol test. However, he refused to take part in a urinalysis.

Amid the search by the officials, two white pills, later identified as hydrocone, were recovered from his pocket. His eyes were reportedly “dilated“, and he was sweating profusely. He was later arrested under charges of DUI, refusal to submit, and property damage. 8 hours later, he was released on bail.

A few days after this incident, Woods announced a break from golf. In a post on social media, the 82-time PGA Tour winner revealed that he was stepping away from the game and would seek treatment. He later filed for permission to get treated abroad instead due to privacy concerns.

In May, Woods did come back to the United States. It was later revealed that his partner, Vanessa Trump, was diagnosed with breast cancer. In a rare public appearance, he also attended the graduation ceremony of Vanessa’s daughter, Kai Trump.

Following a brief stay, the golfer flew back to Zurich. According to reports from Page Six, the golf icon’s private jet landed in Jupiter, Florida, on Friday. He was then seen at the airport. The golfer was pictured with a small grin on his face as he made his way back home.

Before his arrest, Woods was gearing up for a competitive return to golf. While he did play in the TGL finals, his last official PGA Tour start came at the Open Championship in July 2024. He missed the entirety of the 2025 season due to an Achilles injury.

Despite return, Tiger Woods to miss all 4 majors for second year running

After watching the action from the sidelines in 2025, there was some optimism that Tiger Woods could return to PGA Tour events this year. However, his arrest and rehab meant that he would miss the Masters Tournament and the PGA Championship. While he has returned now, he will still miss all the 4 majors this year.

Next week, the 126th U.S. Open will take place at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, New York. Woods clearly will not be ready for this.

As for the Open Championship, the deadline to submit an entry has already passed. Though he has an exemption until the age of 60 in this event, he will not be teeing off at this major tournament. This would mark a 2nd straight year where he will miss all the 4 major events.

After missing the Genesis Invitational in 2025 due to the passing of his mother, Kultida Woods, the golfer was supposed to make his first start of the year at the Masters Tournament. However, he ended up rupturing his Achilles tendon just days before the event and was forced to sit out.

Later that year, he underwent another back surgery and had his disc replaced. With his TGL team down 1-0 in the best-of-three finals this year, he made his first appearance. Despite him playing, the Jupiter Links GC suffered a defeat and lost the finals.

Woods had not fully ruled out an appearance at the Masters Tournament this year. After the car crash incident, he prioritized his health over the major event and went into a rehab program.

The former World No. 1 is eligible for the senior tour. With him turning 50 in December last year, the doors for the PGA Tour Champions opened up for him.

On the senior tour, Woods can use the golf cart instead of walking all 18 holes. Unlike the PGA Tour, most of the events on this circuit are played in a 54-hole format (3 rounds). Last year, one of his former rivals, Ernie Els, urged him to come on this tour and try to beat them all once again.

As of now, it is uncertain whether the golfer will take this option. Only time will tell what is next in store for Woods.
