Tiger Woods will appear before a court on Wednesday regarding his DUI case earlier this year. As per reports, the 15-time major champion is set to change his “not guilty” plea during this appearance.

The golf great found himself in another accident in late March. Following his appearance in the TGL finals, he was getting ready for the 2026 Masters Tournament and to make his first official start on the PGA Tour since the 2024 Open Championship.

As per initial reports, the crash took place at around 2 p.m. near his residence in Jupiter, Florida. His luxury SUV rolled over while trying to swerve away from a cleaner truck. Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured.

During the investigation, Woods took a breathalyzer test, which showed no signs of alcohol. However, he refused to take part in a urine test. He was arrested and booked under Driving Under the Influence (DUI), property damage, and refusal to submit

Woods was later released on bail. He then pleaded not guilty and announced taking a break from golf and seeking treatment.

The former World No.1 is now set to change his “not guilty” plea. As per ESPN, as of now, there are no additional details regarding the nature of the plea change.

According to the arrest affidavit, Woods was “sweating profusely” during the questioning. His eyes were “glassy” and “bloodshot” while his pupils were dilated. Two white pills were later found in his pocket.

These were later identified as hydrocodone, an opioid used to treat severe, chronic pain. Since his accident in Los Angeles in 2021, the golfer has suffered from a few injuries and has been unable to compete consistently.

He later flew to Switzerland for his treatment and got into a rehabilitation program. Following a brief return in May, he returned in June and made his first public appearance since his crash and arrest to announce some big changes to the PGA Tour.

Woods is currently tied with Sam Snead for the most wins on the PGA Tour with 82 victories. These wins brought some huge cheques.

The 50-year-old had been top of the PGA Tour Career Earnings list since 2000. For more than 26 years, he remained top of this list until Scottie Scheffler surpassed him this past Sunday.

The World No.1 picked up his 22nd victory on the PGA Tour as he came back from a 3-shot deficit to win the Tour Championship. This triumph saw him being crowned the FedEx Cup champion as well.

With this win, he pocketed $10 million from the massive $40 million purse. This took his career earnings to $130,390,661. Woods, who had been on top for more than 2 decades, fell to 2nd place with career earnings of $120,999,166.

The money back then and now is also different. Woods earned $486,000 following his record-setting victory at the Masters Tournament in 1997. This year, Rory McIlroy earned $3.6 million from winning the Masters for a second year running.

As per statistician Lou Stagner, if Woods’ career earnings up to 2024 were adjusted to the current rate, he would have career earnings of $404 million.

Woods did congratulate Scheffler for his win. In a post on X, he lauded the efforts of the 4-time major champion and praised his consistency.

Three wins, five runner-ups and finishing the season No. 1. Those are some numbers to be proud of. Incredible consistency all season long. Congrats on a historic season, Scottie.

The big question remains the same: when will Woods return to action? He is now eligible for the PGA Tour Champions. On the senior tour, he will be able to use a golf cart instead of walking the 18 holes. It remains to be seen what he decides.
