Nick Aldis is set to make his WWE in-ring debut at this year’s SummerSlam against Gunther. Their match was made official by the company’s chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque during the SummerSlam kickoff this Sunday afternoon live from the NYC Fanatics Fest.

At first, ‘The Ring General’ interrupted Levesque and went off on his boss over Aldis messing with his career, let alone his SummerSlam plans.

‘The Game’ responded by telling Gunther that he pushed the SmackDown GM too far, and it came to bite him at Saturday Night’s Main Event when Aldis decked the Austrian with the WWE title belt.

It didn’t take long for the erstwhile Magnus to make his way out there as well. The English wrestler vented his spleen over Gunther putting his hands on him and thinking there wouldn’t be any consequences to that.

Aldis said he was ready to pick a fight with the former Imperium leader anytime he wanted it. Triple H stayed in between Gunther and Aldis thinking the situation wouldn’t escalate further. However, just then, ‘The Career Killer’ kicked Nick Aldis in the midsection. A follow-up punch to the head made the SmackDown general manager fall down.

As Gunther was leaving, Aldis got up and punched him right in the face to ensue a pull-apart brawl. The security personnel wasted little time coming out and holding these belligerents apart. ‘Hunter’ has had enough by then, and he finally called for Gunther and Aldis to settle their differences inside the ring at SummerSlam.

With that being said, it’s going to be Aldis’ first wrestling match in almost three years. He joined WWE back in August 2023 as the general manager of Friday Night SmackDown and even took up a producer’s role backstage.

His flawless on-screen work with numerous top-tier stars, including Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, and more, prompted massive fan interest in seeing what Aldis could do inside a WWE ring.

It always seemed as if his in-ring debut for WWE was more of a when question rather than if. ‘The Modern Day Gladiator’ had been at odds with Gunther since the moment he got traded to SmackDown in May. The rumors of their match first sparked following Night of Champions when they had a heated confrontation backstage which even turned physical.

‘The Ring General’ completely snapped on Aldis the night before Saturday Night’s Main Event when the SmackDown GM put him in a tag team match against Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. It resulted in Gunther manhandling Aldis and squeezing the air out of his lungs through multiple Sleeper holds.

It appears like Mickie James couldn’t be more ecstatic about her husband Nick Aldis finally getting his revenge on Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The 6-time WWE women’s champion reacted to Aldis blasting ‘The Ring General’ with the Undisputed WWE Title belt this past Saturday at MSG by saying, “Revenge is so sweet.”

She also used a celebratory emoji to emphasize her emotions. James was backstage at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and she would’ve definitely relished Nick Aldis’ big moment at The Garden. ‘The Psychotic Diva’ got asked last year on Chris Van Vliet’s podcast if Aldis had another run in him.

She absolutely thought so and affirmed that the 39-year-old from England was far from being done. James said she’d pray for a perfect moment or storyline for Aldis leading to his in-ring debut. She added it’d be a dream-come-true scenario for her husband to do it in WWE.

And guess what? A few months out from James manifesting all that, Nick Aldis is less than two weeks away from performing in front of the WWE audience for the very first time.
