Miami Dolphins’ offense collapsed on Monday, as they struggled to record 200 yards, setting in at 187 yards. However, fans are particularly angry with star wide receiver Tyreek Hill for missing a simple catch from quarterback Tyler Huntley, that ended up into a horrific fumble, that shifted the entire momentum early in the game.
It happened on the opening drive in the first quarter when the newly acquired quarterback Huntley threw a backward pass aimed at Hill, who not only failed to catch a very simple pass but also didn’t realize it was a backward pass. It could have been turned into an 80-yard touchdown, but Hill left the ball on the ground believing it was an incomplete pass.
The Tenessee Titans’ Arden Key took advantage of the miscommunication and recovered the ball to throw a touchdown. Unfortunately, the Titans were denied a potential touchdown as the officials blew whistles, thinking the play was dead.
Upon the replay review, it was found the Dolphins committed a fumble and they were charged with it by the officials. This miscommunication of offense cost the Dolphins an opportunity to score early in the first half, which may have balanced the game. Following the third consecutive loss, Miami has fallen to a 1-3 record heading for the week 5’s game against a team with a similar season standing, the New England Patriots.
Fans react to Tyreek Hill causing a horrific fumble
While the Dolphins’ offense barely recorded a total of 187 yards, the defense allowed the Titans to score 244 yards and log its first victory of the season. Although the entire offensive line is responsible for the poor loss, fans seem to be blaming the eight-time Pro Bowler for missing a simple catch on the opening drive, that could have given the team an edge.
One fan taunted the veteran star by writing, “Real people thought Tyreek Hill was better than Justin Jefferson because he’s fast,” on X, while another wrote, “Tyreek has been god awful this year.” Here are some of the fan reactions:
It is safe to say that the majority of the comments criticized the NFL Cheetah for being “sloppy” in the game, expressing their disappointment over the fumble. The receiver’s performance in all four games this season has been – only 217 yards with one touchdown and 17 receptions, and he will look to improve upon that.
