‘This is not over’ – Conor McGregor is hell-bent on another fight against Dustin Poirier following UFC 264 loss; quadrilogy soon?

Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor at UFC 264

UFC 264: Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 3 had one of the most unexpected endings. The Irishman was unfortunately defeated due to a leg injury. Towards the very end of the first round, McGregor snapped his ankle, quite similar to the way Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman snapped theirs (although not as serious as theirs), and fell to the ground.

He was checked by the officials and the Octagon doctor following the fight. The fight was then waved off by referee Herb Dean, and was awarded to Dustin Poirier. ‘The Diamond’ won the fight via. TKO due to a doctor stoppage (ankle break). McGregor was an angry man after his loss. He uttered some intensely personal and nasty stuff aimed at Poirier and his wife Jolie at the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

McGregor was quoted as saying, “I was boxing the bleeding head off him; kicking the bleeding legs off him…This is not over…

When asked by Rogan about Poirier mentioning that it was a kick-check that had his ankle cracked, ‘The Notorious’ replied, “There was no check. There was not one of them that were checked.” He then went on to hurl a ton of abuses at his wife and Poirier, even as Jolie flipped the middle finger, following McGregor’s distasteful comments: “Your wife is in my DMs! Hey baby, hit me back up. I’ll chat to you later on. I’ll be at your after-party. The Wynn nightclub. You look in bits, ya little ho!”

Conor McGregor gets stretchered off as the ‘Notorious’

McGregor’s dejection seemed to wane away when he was being stretchered off from the Octagon. He could be seen acknowledging the cheer from his fans, despite being the one who told Poirier the previous night that he (Poirier) would be stretchered off.

McGregor is still hell-bent on fighting Poirier again. Why wouldn’t he when the fight ended like that? But, Poirier was simply on top of his game, and had the fight gone on for a few more rounds, he would have ended up being the winner.

Does a quadrilogy fight make sense?
