‘I’ll show everyone how to beat fighters like Jiri’ – Jan Blachowicz addresses possible fight with Jiri Prochazka

Jiri Prochazka and Jan Blachowicz

Jan Blachowicz has had a wonderful 2020 and 2021. He started off 2020 with a win over Corey Anderson, but then little did he know that he would become the light-heavyweight champion by the end of the year. And things sorted themselves on their own as Jon Jones vacated his light-heavyweight belt, which had Jan fighting for the LHW belt against Dominick Reyes in September 2020 at UFC 253.

He won the title by knocking out Reyes, and has since gone on to defend it once, against Israel Adesanya at UFC 259. He is now scheduled to fight Glover Teixeira at UFC 266 in September, this year.

I will in future, of course, if we’re gonna meet‘ – Jan Blachowicz on fighting Jiri Prochazka

In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Blachowicz opened up on facing another dangerous light-heavyweight prospect Jiri Prochazka. The Czech is already number 2 in the rankings, after making his debut only last year. However, Blachowicz sounded confident that he would beat him if they ever crossed paths.

Blachowicz was quoted as saying, “I’ll show everyone how to beat fighters like Jiri. It’s not gonna be easy, but I show it and I will in future, of course, if we’re gonna meet.”

Prochazka is coming off a victory over Dominick Reyes at a recently concluded UFC Fight Night. He knocked out ‘The Devastator’ with a vicious spinning elbow. And now, he is the number 2 ranked heavyweight.

Prochazka and Blachowicz already had a Twitter chat, after the former’s win against Reyes. Therefore, if Blachowicz manages to beat Teixeira at UFC 266, a fight against the Czech will definitely be his next assignment.

It is worth noting that, Prochazka was the Rizing Fighting Federation’s Light-heavyweight champion before joining the UFC. He beat Volkan Oezdemir on his UFC debut, and has not lost a single fight since December 2015.
