Germaine de Randamie is 32 weeks pregnant but still hits the pads with the same tenacity as she would in a camp. The former UFC featherweight champion seems to have lost no edge due to her pregnancy, which she showed while hitting the pads.
The general aura for UFC fighters is associated with danger and violence. Motherhood is associated with an aura of a person is caring and loving. Usually, these two don’t crossover – but not in the case of UFC fighters who are managing to have a loving family and a violent cage presence.
Also when a woman gets pregnant, especially when she is 32 weeks pregnant, they don’t indulge themselves in heavy workout or activity. But not Germaine. She seems to be not enjoying too much rest and care, so she hit the gym and started hitting pads – enough to keep her sane and healthy.
The MMA community is impressed by her fitness and speed during her pregnancy. All they wish for is for her to have a healthy child and to remain healthy enough to make a comeback when the time is right.
Germaine de Randamie’s UFC career so far
While Germaine de Randamie is resting and taking care of herself during her pregnancy, let’s look at her UFC career so far. She is the former UFC Women Featherweight champion and is now competing in the Women’s Bantamweight division.
de Randamie won the inaugural Women’s Featherweight championship against Holly Holm. The entire fight was filled with controversies with Randamie hitting Holm with punches even after the end of the 2nd and 3rd rounds, but the referee not deducting any points for it. When asked to fight Cris Cyborg, she refused due to Cris’ continuous involvement with performance-enhancing drugs. Because of this, she was stripped of her title, and she moved to the bantamweight division.
Germaine de Randamie is the joint record holder of having the quickest knockout along with Ronda Rousey in the Women’s Bantamweight division. Let’s hope the fans will get to see a similar de Randamie when she eventually returns from her pregnancy.
