Dominick Cruz has always given some great technical insights from the commentary booth. However, during Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor, the UFC legend sure puzzled a lot of the fans with his bizarre commentary.

Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor is undoubtedly the biggest fight in the history of UFC. Two of the biggest stars in the promotion clashing in the octagon to settle their fierce rivalry, you couldn’t write a script like this. UFC 229 was truly a spectacle in all aspects!

Dominick Cruz, bantamweight legend and UFC commentator was part of the commentary team on that historic night. Khabib Nurmagomedov won the fight via an iconic submission in the fourth round to end his rivalry against Conor McGregor. The Irishman was absolutely ragdolled in the fight and was completely overwhelmed by the Dagestani’s pressure and power.

In the third round of the fight when Nurmagomedov was draining huge shots at McGregor, who was in his back, Cruz made a comment about the fight that caught everyone off guard, including Joe Rogan himself. “He’s trying to gas Khabib out. He’s taking shots but they’re not the worst shots you can take. He’s covered up, but it doesn’t look good,” said Cruz while Nurmagomedov continues to “smash” Conor McGregor.

Rogan was as puzzled as every other fan who was listening to Cruz. Joe Rogan immediately went, “I don’t think he is trying to gas Khabib out, I think he’s getting smashed.” Check out the commentary during the third round below:

The Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor fight had everything. A spectacular finish to all the trash-talking, and also the infamous brawl after the fight. With all that has happened, you would think Nurmagomedov wouldn’t have paid attention to Cruz’s commentary.

But Khabib and his training partner, Daniel Cormier, couldn’t stop laughing thinking about the time Cruz said the Irishman was trying to tire Khabib out by taking a beating. “I don’t understand one thing, remember when I smash this guy? I smash his face and this guy [Dominick Cruz], he say, ‘make him tired with his face,'” said Nurmagomedov as DC started laughing hysterically.
