“Gangsters don’t use towels” – Chael Sonnen is confused by Jorge Masvidal’s weird tweet about beach etiquette

Sonnen called out Masvidal over a bizarre tweet

Chael Sonnen and Jorge Masvidal hold the fort across both coasts of the USA when it comes to being a gangster. Sonnen was raised on the ‘mean streets of West Lynn’ and Masvidal, a native Miami star, these two men have embodied the gangster image in the UFC longer than most.

However, a recent post on Twitter by Masvidal compelled Sonnen to intervene and “gangster check” the BMF. Masvidal posted a tweet earlier in the week, captioned, “Life’s a beach ….. Don’t forget your towel” accompanied by a picture of himself going surfing. Sonnen found this post to be incredibly out of character for Masvidal and called him out on it.

Sonnen was initially just extremely confused by the wording as the caption made no sense to him whatsoever. “What? Life’s a beach? First off no it’s not, actually not true at all, that’s the opposite of truth”, said Sonnen mocking the fun quote in a similar vein as he does with the proverbs of John Cena.

“Don’t forget a towel? What kind of a gangster uses a towel?”, said Sonnen as he sounded legitimately astounded by Masvidal’s need for a towel. Sonnen then said that he was, ” Too macho for a towel” as he went on to claim that he hasn’t used one since 1999, preferring to use his bare hands to dry off the water.

Sonnen went on to further insult how the tweet looks on the overall gangster image of Masvidal. However he was willing to give the BMF Champion a pass had he been advertising over such a post, sadly he was not.

Masvidal lost a landslide decision to Covington during their bout

Jorge Masvidal has been out of action since UFC 272, when he went up against his former teammate, Colby Covington. In the fight he was completely dominated on the ground, not managing to build up any significant offense of his own. After losing a landslide decision, Masvidal was not done with Covington.

A few weeks after the event, Masvidal allegedly assaulted Covington at a Papi Steak outlet in Miami. The two have been involved in a legal battle ever since, with Covington claiming Masvidal dealt him severe brain injury during the alleged assault.

Due to his ongoing battles outside the octagon, his buzz within the cage itself is dramatically low to what it was 2 years ago. A few fighters have called out Masvidal during this time, most notable among them being Gilbert Burns. Though Masvidal showed that he was game when Burns first made his call out, every single attempt since, by the Brazilian has failed to get a response from Masvidal.
