Conor McGregor is to make his return in-ring in the near future. The Irish fighter is famed for his online presence. McGregor’s X account is one of the most highlighted and often contains contents of a controversial nature. The fighter does not shy away from posting abrasively on topics. The immediate person tangled in the vicious circle is singer Akon.
He recently got banned on X, due to copyright issues, mimicking singer Akon’s song. Unfazed by this, Conor McGregor posted an Instagram story, singing a song again. This time around, it was more of a diss than mimicry. The since-deleted track went:
Music, guess who's crap? ...Guess who's crap? Akon was wrong...was only singing the song. It wasn't even that long. You need to take a chill pill or hit a bone! And then f****ng some...Song. Songs on ears - donkey Kong!Conor McGregor via Instagram
Last month, at Riyadh season, McGregor sang “Locked Up,” originally by R&B star Akon. Bewildering fans to the status of his return and for subtle hints. Now, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a voice note of the same song. Conversely, this led to a ban on his account. This then prompted the bizarre mimicry on Instagram.
McGregor informed fans about the ban on his Instagram, captioning the fact that Akon might not be happy. The singer has yet to make official responses on the matter. Additionally, the Irishman would have to review the social media platform’s copyright policy to get his account back.
Max Holloway expects and awaits a chance at Conor McGregor, expected to return at UFC 300
The “Notorious” Conor McGregor will make his return in 2024. Amid a two-fight skid for the first time in his pro-MMA career, McGregor also suffered his first knockout loss in 2021. He lost the rematch bout to Dustin Poirier in Abu Dhabi, UAE, in January 2021. Then, McGregor incurred a leg injury during the trilogy bout, thus effectively benching him. Since then, he has had a titanium insertion and subsequent recoveries.
McGregor is also expected to square off against Michael Chandler, a long-time rival. Both fighters served as opposing judges for season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) reality TV show. Both of them have made subsequent callouts to each other. Max Holloway has pitched in as a future opponent in the middle of all this. Speaking with ESPN, the 25-7-0 featherweight expressed his legitimacy to be on a shortlist for a face-off. Check out what Holloway said in the tweet below:
There had been many recent to-and-fro draws on his expectant return at UFC 300. As of late, in a reply online, McGregor informed that he was in for a fight. The fighter recently got into an online skirmish with internationally renowned singer Akon. Consequently, any matchup against Holloway will have to wait until he competes against Chandler.
